Tyler, the Creator is one of the many people Billie Eilish chose to prank call for a video segment called Phoning It In with Elle Magazine on July 24, 2024. Eilish, a self-professed Tyler fan, put their friendship to the test when she called the rapper to ask for help, telling him she had soiled her pants while on a date.

Tyler immediately replied, “Fire. Honestly? Fire. You deserve it.” Amid laughter, Billie Eilish confessed she didn't know what to do, asking if she could go to his LA house to clean up. Tyler replied he was in Atlanta, but added that she could go to his house. He then asked her to explain the situation, baffled at how Eilish ended up in her predicament.

Billie Eilish finally revealed that she was pranking him, only to hear stunned silence from his end of the line, before the rapper said,

“That’s amazing. That’s the content that they’re doing for journalism now? Nice. Look, I sharted like two months ago.”

Eilish apologized for the prank, adding that she hoped to meet the rapper soon. Before hanging up, Tyler hinted that Elle Magazine should ask her how she felt about "these motherf***ing haters in the world."

Billie Eilish dubbed Tyler as one of her biggest inspirations

Billie Eilish has often talked about the impact Tyler, the Creator had on her. In a May 2020 episode of Apple Music's me & dad radio, she said,

“Everybody knows Tyler has inspired every part of everything about me. Basically, I’ve been a fan of Tyler’s forever, and I never really got to listen to all of this album [IGOR].”

Tyler, the Creator also reciprocated the sentiment, adding that he wanted to work with Eilish since she debuted in the music industry with her first studio album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? in 2019. In a July 2019 interview with Zane Lowe, Tyler said,

“I think [her album]’s sick. I like her. I just want her to keep doing her goddamn thing. I really wanna work with her. I don’t know what the fuck we would make, even if it don’t come out, if it’s trash, I just wanna see…”

Eilish took to Instagram to gush about the rapper's compliment, adding that she would be nothing without him in the music industry.

Billie Eilish also agreed with Tyler's comments about racial disparity in the music industry, when he spoke up at the 2020 Grammys about how "genre-bending" black artists are often lumped together in the rap or urban category. Tyler won the Grammy for Best Rap Album for his 2019 album IGOR.

In her interview with GQ Magazine for the July/August issue, Eilish seconded Tyler's statement, adding that she would probably be in the rap category if she was not white.

Billie Eilish also pranked Margot Robbie and Dakota Johnson

Tyler, the Creator was not the sole victim of Billie Eilish's pranks. The singer also pranked Margot Robbie, Dakota Johnson, and her label head Justin Lubliner during Phoning It In with Elle Magazine.

Eilish called Robbie and asked if she could use the actress' house to shoot a music video with around 200 people. Robbie, who showered praises for the singer's new album Hit Me Hard and Soft, said she was in the middle of packing her home. She instead offered to recommend a friend who could lend their place before Eilish revealed it was a prank.

Billie Eilish's next victim was Justin Lubliner, whom she called and revealed that she was quitting music for good. The label head was sympathetic, asking her if she was okay as she sounded upset. He also seemed relieved when Eilish told him she was pranking him.

Eilish's last call was to Dakota Johnson. She called the actress and fibbed that she was cast as a baby for $500 million in a movie. She asked Johnson if she knew a dialect coach to help her learn to mimic a baby's sound.

The actress seemed confused while on call but was supportive, adding that she knew someone to help Eilish. She jokingly promised retribution when Billie Eilish told her it was a prank.
