Two weeks ago, on Christmas Day, Ice Spice released the official deluxe version of her debut studio album, Y2K!, which was released to all major streaming platforms on July 26, 2024.

Her expanded editions, titled Y2K!: I'm Just A Girl (Deluxe), was distributed via 10K Projects and Capitol Records, hosting five additional tracks and guest features from DaBaby and NLE Choppa.

Her July release broke into the Billboard 200, charting at no.18, after selling close to 30,000 units in its opening week. The Bronx rapper's Y2K! Deluxe is now catching the attention of fans and popular media outlets after multiple individuals highlighted the "low sales" secured since its release last Christmas.

New reports suggest the album only sold 4,800 album-equivalent units in its opening week. Publications like HNHH claim that the "poor commercial performance" for Y2K!: I'm Just A Girl (Deluxe) can be connected to its release on Christmas Day.

HNHH also added that Ice including only 5 additional tracks to a project that hosted pre-released singles, could be a reason for Y2K! deluxe's commercial performance.

With popular media outlets like Kurrco reposting the supposed sales figures for Spice's new project, fans and critics took to the comment section to share their thoughts and opinions on Y2K!: I'm Just A Girl (Deluxe). One individual was seen claiming that Ice's career had "died," seemingly questioning the album's release.

More reactions followed from users questioning the reason behind the album's "low sale figures".

"What happened? Was it bad promo?," a user asked.
"It’s a Deluxe with one new song. The other 2 new songs are irrelevant kinda. And features. She ain’t Kendrick the Deluxe isn’t gonna sell that well," another added.
"Didn’t know it dropped her label choking," a user claimed.

Several users and critics were seen clowning Ice Spice over Y2K! Deluxe's album sales, with some making references to her alleged use of Ozempic.

"Didn’t even know she dropped, wonder how Ice Spice fell off so fast," a user questioned.
"Even her sales are on Ozempic," a user claimed.
"They dropped it on Christmas. Like I’m gonna take time away from my family to listen to Ice Spice," said another.

Why was Ice Spice booed off stage at an Australian NYE Music Festival?

Entering into 2025, Ice Spice has spent the new year period touring and performing multiple shows in Australia.

The Bronx rapper was reportedly booked to perform at a few music festivals, including Beyond the Valley and Wildlands Festival, where Ice would take the stage in Victoria, Brisbane, Perth, and Adelaide.

During her New Year headlining performance in Brisbane at the Wildlands Festival, Ice Spice reportedly arrived 30 minutes late to the event. Her initial slot was booked for 10:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., with the Bronx rapper taking the stage at 10:55 p.m.

According to Billboard, due to "tight scheduling requirements" Ice Spice was only able to perform Deli and Princess Diana before her mic was cut off halfway through her In Ha Mood performance.

"At 11:01 p.m. They gave her an extra minute. They cut the mic and you heard the collective sigh from the crowd. They’d been waiting for a while and they get two songs?," Journalist Brenton Larney told The Guardian.

Wildlands Festival organizers addressed Ice's microphone being cut off to ensure the festivities "ran to time," explaining:

"Managing a stacked festival means that we have to be extremely firm with set times. We had a strict curfew of 12:30 and need to ensure that the final act went on stage on time, so everyone could enjoy the New Year’s Eve countdown."

During her Jan.4 performance at Wildland's Perth leg, Ice briefly addressed the NYE situation before her set, reportedly stating:

"I’m sorry guys, surely y’all can forgive me. It was my birthday and it takes a long time to look like a Barbie"

Ice Spice officially closed out her 2025 touring schedule with a January 5 performance in Adelaide, many of which were in support of her debut studio album Y2K!.
