Touré told the publication that despite the significant time spent in the city, West had not purchased property. He is reportedly enjoying the freedom of hotel life, not having to maintain a home.

Moreover, the journalist claims Ye is taken to the city as the fans leave him alone despite his celebrity status. He prefers the quiet offered in Tokyo and the choice to move freely without his usual entourage, unlike his frequent run-ins with the paparazzi in Los Angeles. Touré remarked:

"When he’s in Japan, people see him, but they’re very quiet. They’re very respectful. Very seldom will they even come up and ask for a picture. So he can move around Japan with no security."

Touré explained that nobody exactly knows how long Kanye has been living in Tokyo. He explained that Japan offers Kanye West the peace of mind needed to focus on his music, stating:

"In Japan he has a different level of peace of mind, which obviously leads to being able to make really good music."

Throughout his career, West is known for frequently relocating and has lived in cities like Wyoming, Malibu, and Chicago. Touré elaborated on this stating:

"There was a time in the Chateau Marmont in Beverly Hills, there was a Florence, Italy period, there was a Dubai period. We're talking 2-3 months. But now he is living in a Tokyo hotel."
