Shyne Barrow, Belize's Leader of the Opposition, recently opened up about Diddy's arrest during an interview with the Belizean media on Wednesday, September 18. When asked about the rapper's arrest, the former member of Bad Boy discussed the 1999 nightclub shooting that resulted in his 10-year prison sentence.

Following a shooting at a nightclub, Barrow was taken into custody. Billboard reports that Shyne was sentenced after it was found that he had shot and injured two individuals during a fight with Diddy.

Talking about the same and the rapper’s involvement in the shooting, he said:

“This is someone who in essence testified against me when I was on trial, when I was an 18-year-old kid just wanting to do nothing other than make my mother proud and make Belize proud. I was defending him, and he turned around and called witnesses to testify against me and he contributed; he pretty much sent me to prison.”

During the news conference on Wednesday, talking about Diddy's arrest and allegations, former rapper Shyne Barrow said that he had distanced himself from the hip-hop mogul. He further insisted that their connection was solely professional.

He added:

“This is someone who destroyed my life. Who I forgave and who I moved on and for the better interest of Belize, because he was in a position at that time to give scholarships and to maybe invest.”

Shyne also acknowledged that he was being set up after the I'll Be Missing You singer shot a person in 1999 and allegedly framed him. Here, Barrow referred to the December 1999 shooting at a nightclub in New York City, which he, Diddy, and the mogul's girlfriend at the time, singer Jennifer Lopez, witnessed.

In June 2001, Shyne was found guilty of the assault and sentenced to 10 years in prison. In the end, he was freed in 2009 and sent to Belize.

Then, during the recent interview, when a reporter questioned Shyne about his involvement in or knowledge of Diddy's "freak off" parties, he replied:

“I had nothing to do with Sean Combs’ personal life. No interaction at that level. Everything was strictly on a professional level.”

Here, the reporter referred to the drug and s*x-filled parties Diddy hosted at his house. Barrow then added:

“So, let us not lose sight of what the cold, hard facts are. This is not someone who I vacationed with and who he and I enjoyed this great, intimate relationship of brotherhood... I would not deny attempting to bring the investment to Belize and contribution to education to Belize.”

More details about the arrest of the It's All About The Benjamins rapper

The press conference came after Diddy was brought to New York and placed in federal custody. TMZ reported that Homeland Security discovered Diddy late, on Monday, September 16, at a hotel in Midtown. He was taken into custody on charges of s*x trafficking, racketeering, and providing transportation for pr*stitution.

Following the lawsuits against him, federal investigators raided the rapper's homes in Miami and Los Angeles in March 2024, leading to his imprisonment. Since his arrest, further details regarding the outcome of the raid have come to light as an indictment was made public online on September 17.

Approximately, 1000 baby oil bottles were found at the rapper's home, according to the indictment. Furthermore, the federal officers also discovered multiple bottles of lubricant and three AR-15s at the rapper's residence, citing the same documents.

The accusation further states that other things such as "controlled substances...extra linens, and lighting" were also found. The court documents also said that the "elaborate" freak shows, which lasted for several days, "produced s*x performances that Combs arranged, directed, and often electronically recorded.”

Furthermore, according to the same documents, Combs forced women to participate in these s*x sessions with male pr*stitutes. Then, numerous instances of these were recorded with the singer indulging in self-gratification.

Additionally, no other information was made public regarding the rapper’s arrest.
