Roddy Ricch shocked the masses by revealing that the man who found his Grammy award in a storage locker allegedly asked for $50,000. The whole fiasco happened on November 29, 2024, after a YouTuber, Prieto Hunter, posted a video showing him opening a storage unit.

As he opened the unit, he found a black suitcase, containing Roddy Ricch’s Grammy Award from 2019. He showed the award and pointed towards how Roddy had won the Grammy for Best Rap Performance for Nipsey Hussle's Racks In The Middle.

The YouTuber then offered Roddy Ricch to “work something out” to take back his award. Thereafter, Roddy Ricch hopped on to his Instagram live to clarify his side of the story and claimed that his Grammy had been in the storage for a while now, as he had been traveling.

He even claimed that his assistant, responsible for taking care of the storage unit, got into an accident, and hence, everything in there went haywire.

Moreover, Roddy then stated that he initially offered Hunter $10,000. The Youtuber denied the amount and demanded more. The rapper said:

"First he asked me for an AP. Then he asked for $50,000. So it was never about 'Oh we're going to do it on just the strength of trying to get it back to you' and all that type of s**t. It was more so about a n***a trying to get some clout off it or a n***a trying to basically extort me for $50,000."

Roddy has been a nominee for the Grammy Awards multiple times, however, he has won the award once in 2020, for Best Rap Performance, for the song, Racks in the Middle.

Roddy Ricch’s assistant met Prieto Hunter at the police station to collect the award

Roddy Ricch, in his clarification, stated that as soon as he found out about the Grammy Award, his team reached out to Prieto Hunter. Prieto then met with Roddy’s assistant at the police station, where he had to return the award.

Roddy also claimed that he agreed to pay him the asked amount if he brought the Grammy Award and the other stuff present in the storage unit.

However, the rapper also alleged that the YouTuber came into the police station with three people holding cameras. He also expressed his regret over not storing the prestigious award properly.

On the other hand, on December 2, 2024, Hunter also posted another video alleging that he had initially planned to give Roddy Ricch’s award for free, and had just asked him to capture their exchange on video. However, Hunter stated that soon after the video went viral, he and his family started receiving threats, which also included photos of his house, and his social security number.

However, at the moment, Roddy has not responded to the claims made by Hunter. For the unversed, Ricch is best known for his studio albums, Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial which was released in 2019, and then Live Life Fast and The Navy Album in 2021 and 2024.

Apart from the Grammys, Ricch has also won other awards like the Apple Music Awards, BET Awards, American Music Awards, Billboard Music Awards, iHeartRadio Music Awards, and even Variety’s Hitmaker awards.
