DDG and Halle Bailey have called it quits months after the former couple welcomed their son late in 2023. The American YouTube star and rapper announced in an Instagram Story on October 2 that he and The Little Mermaid actress and singer are going their "separate ways".
In the Instagram Story, he wrote:
"After much reflection and heartfelt conversations, Halle and I have decided to go our separate ways. This decision was not easy, but we believe it's the best part forward for both of us. I cherish the time we've spent together and the love we've shared."
DDG only has one child, Halo, whom he shares with Bailey. He also addressed the rumors that he has "a bunch of other kids" in a video interview with VLAD TV shared on YouTube in March 2024, saying that he didn't have other kids. He explained:
"If I had other kids, I would know. I mean, I would be a present dad. People would know."
He confirmed that Halo is the "first kid ever" for both him and Halle Bailey.
DDG said that he and Halle Bailey are "still best friends" as he announced their split
In his breakup post, DDG said that his and Bailey's love for each other will remain "deep and true." He added:
"We are still best friends and adore each other. As we focus on our individual journeys and roles as co-parents, we cherish the bond we've built and the beautiful moments we've shared."
The rapper and Halle Bailey debuted their relationship early in 2022 and announced their son Halo's birth in January 2024. It came after months of rumors that the singer-actress is pregnant with DDG's kid ran rampant online.
Bailey is notoriously private about her personal life and never confirmed that she and DDG were expecting a baby throughout her pregnancy.
That said, after making their son's birth public in January, both the new mom and dad have been openly sharing glimpses of their family of three on social media.
Halle Bailey first shared a photo of her and Halo covered in mud on Instagram on March 28, but her baby's face had been blurred. She also debuted a non-blurred picture of Halo in August, marking her baby's first concert to see Bruno Mars.
The mother and son donned a matched denim head-to-toe outfit. Bailey also shared a picture of herself and her son with matching headgear while working out.
As for DDG, the rapper consistently shares snaps of him and Halo on his Instagram. One of their pictures was of him and Halo on Father's Day in June, wearing matching black and white boxing robes and gloves. In the rapper's boxing gloves, "Halo's Dad" was written, and Halo's gloves read "Moo's Son."
Days before DDG announced his split with Halle Bailey, he posted a snap of him and Halo in their matching all-black outfit, with his son sitting inside his leather bag.
The rapper also asked the fans for "understanding and support" as he and Halle Bailey navigate the transition in their relationship.
