On Monday, January 13, Jessica Simpson told People magazine exclusively that she and her husband, Eric Johnson, are separating after ten years of marriage. The couple, who share three children, have decided to take some time apart.

Simpson told the magazine:

"Eric and I have been living separately navigating a painful situation in our marriage... Our children come first, and we are focusing on what is best for them. We are grateful for all of the love and support that has been coming our way, and appreciate privacy right now as we work through this as a family."

Eric Johnson and Jessica Simpson share two daughters and a son - Maxwell Drew, 12, Ace Knute, 11, and Birdie Mae, 5.

Per People, the news of their separation comes months after Eric was spotted without his engagement ring in November 2024, around the same time when Jessica Simpson teased her "comeback" to music in an Instagram post, captioning it:

"This comeback is personal, it’s an apology to myself for putting up with everything I did not deserve."

According to a People article published in July 2024, Jessica Simpson announced her first pregnancy in October 2011, dressing as a mummy for Halloween. When she posted the pictures on X (formerly Twitter), Simpson wrote: "It's true - I'm going to be a mummy!"

Jessica's first daughter, Maxwell "Maxi" Drew Johnson, was born on May 1, 2012. Talking about Maxi with People in April 2022, the Irresistible singer shared that she has always been full of confidence and self-love, a trait she seemed to have picked up from Simpson, adding:

"I think that when she sees me happy and confident, that's all that really matters to your children is that they see you loving yourself, and [then] it's easy for them to love themselves."

According to People, Jessica and Eric first met each other through a mutual friend in 2010 and started dating soon after. In November 2010, the couple got engaged and got married four years later, after having welcomed their first two children into the world.

They tied the knot in July 2014 in Montecito, California, before over 250 guests. Ace appeared as the ring-bearer at the wedding, while Maxwell was the flower girl. Two years ago, the couple also spent some quality time together during a weekend getaway in March 2023.

So far, there has been no news of whether or not they plan on getting divorced.
