As Iggy Azalea appeared on Jesse Tyler Ferguson’s Dinner’s On Me podcast on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, she made shocking revelations about being a single mother, and Playboi Carti not co-parenting with the singer.

"I'm very much a single mother, I'm very much the only parent. No disrespect, but I am not co-parenting, really. That's just the reality of it. It's 24/7."

During the interview, she also mentioned how she was getting help from her mother, Tanya, who also raised Iggy alone. The singer also spoke about Onyx, her child being extremely fascinated by music, as she stated how “he’s been writing songs lately.”

"He's been writing songs lately, which terrifies me. I'm like 'It's fine, it's fine, he's four. I really don't want you to be an artist, don't go in the industry, no.' But you know I have to support whatever he wants to do and he is four, it'll change a million times over."

Iggy Azalea and Playboi Carti started dating in 2018. As per The Fader, the two met while Carti was touring overseas. The couple then welcomed their son in June 2020, and just four months after their son, Onyx, was born, the former couple announced that they had parted ways. At the time too, Iggy had that she plan to raise the baby alone.

However, apart from being a father to Onyx, which he shares with rapper Iggy Azalea, Carti also revealed later that he also welcomed a baby girl. However, the rapper did not disclose the name of the mother. Hence, Carti is a father to two kids.

While the former couple, Iggy Azalea and Playboi Carti, announced in 2020 about welcoming a baby boy named Onyx, the rapper then released a track H00DBYAIR in December 2023, where he spoke about his baby girl, Yves. Through the lyrics, he announced he was 27 years old when he welcomed his daughter.

The lyrics are,

“I was twenty-four when I had lil' Onyx. Then I had a daughter, I had a daughter too. Twenty-seven when I had Yves. Now I can finally sleep.”

While Playboi has never been vocal about his role of being a father, as he has rarely talked about fatherhood in his interview, on the contrary, Iggy Azalea spoke about “motherhood,” and how her priorities have shifted as she wants to make memories with her son.

“I no longer want to be traveling around everywhere. I want to take my son to school. I want him to have memories with me and give him that time. It’s really important to me.”

During her sit-down, she also talked at length about working with a life coach two to three times a week. During the interview with Jesse Tyler Ferguson, she claimed it has been the “biggest help” to her.

"It's helped me so much in every which way of my life. That's been really my biggest help. But with my mom, the way that she's really like helped me so much, just by being there. Sometimes it can't even be put into words, and I'm still like that as an adult, where I'm not even calling for advice but I just I'm calling to tell you, 'Please get on a plane, because I don't even need you to say anything I just need you to sit in the corner of the room I'm in,' and somehow it helps."

As the clips of the interview started going viral, social media users started pouring in their thoughts on the matter. While many empathized with Iggy Azalea, others bashed Playboi Carti for not being involved enough as a parent. However, at the moment, Carti has not spoken up or responded to the claims made by the mother of his child.
