The Anglo-Irish girl group, which was formed in the 1970s, had released about 15 albums, with its first one The Singing Nolans. In 2009, they released a comeback album named I'm in the Mood Again. The band, originally known as The Singing Nolans, was formed by Linda Nolan's parents, Maureen and Tommy.

According to reports by Sky News, since both the parents were musicians, they were up for turning their family into a musical troupe. As per the same outlet, Linda made her first stage debut at the age of only 4 years old.

The group initially consisted of the parents and their seven children: sons Tommy and Brian, daughters Anne, Demise, Maureen, Linda, and Bernie. Coleen wasn't formally a part of it yet since she was too young then.

In 1977, as reported by Nostalgia Central, the band toured with Engelbert Humperdinck, shortly after which Dennise decided to exit the group to pursue a solo career.

In 1991, they signed a deal with Teichiku Records, where they made covers of popular Japanese songs. According to Sky News, the band toured with Frank Sinatra and even beat The Beatles' selling records in Japan.

In the statement released by Linda Nolan's agent, it was also written:

"Beyond her incredible career, Linda dedicated her life to helping others, helping raise over £20 million for numerous charities, including Breast Cancer Now, Irish Cancer Society and Samaritans, amongst countless others."

According to the agent, the singer had to be taken to the Blackpool Victoria Hospital over the weekend after she was suffering from double pneumonia and battling with cancer.

Netizens have flooded the internet to pour tributes and express condolences about Linda Nolan's death.
