The NFL's recent deal with streaming giant Netflix resulted in the live broadcasting of two major fixtures, held on Christmas Day (December 25), with Beyoncé captivating audiences during one of the halftime shows.
Kansas City fans were thrilled after their team defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers in a 29-10 win, clinching the No.1 seed in the American Football Conference. The game marked their best margin of victory for the season.
During Halftime at the Baltimore Ravens vs. Houston Texans game, where the Ravens defeated the Texans 31-2 at the NRG stadium, Beyoncé took center field in Houston. The show began with a pre-recorded introduction of the singer riding through the tunnels on a horse while sporting a white cowboy outfit.
The 43-year-old superstar's Christmas Gameday debut saw fans receiving the first live performance of her eighth studio album, COWBOY CARTER. She performed hit records like 16 CARRIAGES and LEVII'S JEANS alongside rapper turned country singer Post Malone.
The highly entertaining Halftime Show, produced by Parkwood Entertainment and Jesse Collins Entertainment, was reportedly included as part of Bey's $60 million three-project deal with Netflix, signed in 2019.
Her first exclusive project with the streaming giant was the 2019 concert documentary titled "Homecoming: A Film by Beyoncé," recapturing the singer's headlining set at Coachella 2018. According to Variety Magazine, this project reportedly earned Bey "around $20 million".
Business Insiders like Dan Ruchie, founder of music and sports information firm Trapital, suggest that similar to her concert documentary, her second project i.e. The NFL Halftime Special, would've earned her around $20 million as well.
"You have this Netflix deal. Everyone else is doing it for ‘free.’ But she continues to find a way to get paid even if it’s not directly from the NFL," Dan Ruchie stated.
Neither Beyoncé nor her team has reacted to reported claims of her supposed "$20 million" earnings from Christmas Day's NFL Halftime Show.
