Taylor Swift recently bid adieu to the 'The Eras Tour', her nearly two-year global concert tour that celebrated her entire discography in various eras. The tour wrapped up with the final show at BC Place Stadium in Vancouver on December 8, 2024, 22 months after her first show in Glendale in March 2023.

'The Eras Tour' was a critical and commercial success that spanned five continents with 149 shows. According to The New York Times, Swift's touring company revealed that the tour earned over $2 billion in revenue, with the exact figure being $2,077,618,725 (£1.62 billion).

The final figure broke the record for the highest-grossing tour, a feat held by Elton John for 'Farewell Yellow Brick Road'. Swift's $2 billion tour earned more than twice that of John's $939 million tour. This amount excluded the revenue made through merchandise, which reportedly brought in an extra $400 million (£314 million) for Swift.

In addition to the $2 billion tour revenue, The Eras Tour's theatrical release saw the concert film collect $261 million at the box office, breaking the record previously held by Justin Bieber's Never Say Never, which generated $99 million.

Taylor Swift's 'The Eras Tour' was attended by over 10.1 million people

Taylor Swift revealed that over 10.1 million people attended her tour in her new Eras Tour Book published on November 30, 2024. According to The Guardian, her biggest show was at the Melbourne Cricket Ground with a crowd of 96,006 attendees.

The tour's ticket sales also stirred controversy after several Swifties sued Ticketmaster, the ticket-selling company owned by Live Nation for mishandling the sales. The website crashed within an hour of the tickets going on sale, with over 3.5 million people left in the queue.

According to The Guardian, the ensuing legal battle saw the US Senate presiding over a hearing about Live Nation's position as an "illegal monopoly" and calling for a dissolution of its merger with Ticketmaster in May 2024. Assistant Attorney General Jonathan Kanter said in a press conference at the time:

“The live music industry in America is broken because Live Nation-Ticketmaster has an illegal monopoly. Our antitrust lawsuit seeks to break up Live Nation-Ticketmaster’s monopoly and restore competition for the benefit of fans and artists.”

Taylor Swift called The Eras Tour's quintessential friendship bracelets its "lasting legacy"

An ongoing tradition among Swifties at 'The Eras Tour' was exchanging friendship bracelets. The idea was born out of a line from Swift's 2022 song You're On Your Own Kid. During the final show in Vancouver, Taylor Swift paid homage to the tradition, calling it the tour's "lasting legacy."

"I never thought that writing one line about friendship bracelets would have you guys all making friendship bracelets, making friends and bringing joy to each other. That is the lasting legacy of this tour. I couldn't be more proud of you."

Fans also celebrated the singer's upcoming 35th birthday by singing "Happy Birthday" to her. Before performing her closing song Karma, Swift thanked her fans for being a part of what she dubbed "the most thrilling chapter of my entire life to date." Swift, her dancers, and backup singers also exchanged hugs as the final show drew to its end.

'The Eras Tour', which spanned 3 hours and 15 minutes, saw the singer perform a 46-song setlist with tracks from all 11 albums, including her latest LP, The Tortured Poets Department, released while she was on tour in April 2024.
