Olivia Rodrigo recently made an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, on Tuesday, October 29, 2024. During the conversation, the 21-year-old singer talked about an incident when cops mistook her for someone else and ended up interrogating her.

During the conversation with Fallon, Olivia recalled this one time when the Border Patrol officers thought she was another individual named "Olivia Rodriguez" who had been to jail several times. As per an August 9, 2023, report by Clarksville Today, Olivia Rodriguez who was 22 at the time was charged with assault and strangulation of her husband.

Olivia Rodrigo said that the mix-up happened while she was on her Guts World Tour and crossing the border from Canada to the US.

The singer then mentioned:

"We were going from Canada to, like, Portland or something. We were at border control, I give them my passport, and they're like, 'OK, whatever.' And they knock on the door [of the tour bus] and they’re like, 'We need Olivia.'"

She revealed that at the time she thought that the officer wanted her autograph, which further prompted her to get out of her tour bus. Olivia then recalled being taken to a room where she was interrogated by a cop who possessed a gun. She added:

"It's 3:00 a.m. and I'm delirious. He's like, 'Have you ever been arrested?' I'm, like, 'No, I haven't been arrested.' He's like, 'Are you sure?' I'm like gaslighting [myself]. I'm like, 'Oh, my God, maybe I was, like, arrested and I didn’t know it.'"

Olivia Rodrigo then told Jimmy Fallon that the authorities warned her that she could go to jail for lying to the feds. The singer reportedly got scared and even had a panic attack. Olivia was then asked to verify herself for the second time, after which the officers realized that they were mistaken. The singer said:

"He's like 'Oh, there's a girl who looks just like you that's your same age that’s been arrested multiple times, and her name is Olivia Rodriguez.'"

The crowd at the talk show soon broke into laughter after she narrated this incident.

Olivia Rodrigo further gave insights into her ongoing global tour, the Guts World Tour

While Olivia Rodrigo described her crazy run-in with law enforcement, Fallon also asked her about her other experiences with the current tour.

While discussing the highlights of the tour, she spoke about her experience of going to the Philippines for a show on October 5, given her Filipino descent. She recalled performing in the Asian country and said:

"Yeah, it was so special and everyone was so great. [And] such good singers."

Jimmy Fallon then brought up another mishap that happened to Olivia during her show in Melbourne, where she crashed through a trap door on the stage. Olivia, however, described it as a "beautiful accident." She explained being taken care of by a Filipino nurse at the hospital who shared the same name as her grandfather who passed this year.

While remembering her heritage and linking it to the mishap, she also said that though the experience was scary, "the show must go on."
