The exact details of Sinead O'Connor's death are finally revealed. It comes a year after the Irish singer-songwriter passed away in July 2023. Her death certificate detailed that she died from "chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and asthma. She was also suffering from a respiratory tract infection around the time of her death.

The copy of the death report, per the Irish Independent on Saturday, July 27, noted that the Nothing Compares to U artist's death is caused by the "exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and bronchial asthma together with low grade respiratory tract infection." Julia Morris, a senior coroner for Inner South London, certified the singer's death after the examination was done post-mortem.

O'Connor's death certificate was registered on Wednesday, July 24, by her ex-husband John Reynolds.

Sinead O'Connor's death broke the internet in July 2023. She was found unresponsive in her London home. There was no police investigation and the case was passed to the coroner's office. In January 2024, reports came out from London's Southwark Coroner's Court that she died of "natural causes."

Sinead O'Connor's wax figure caused uproar on the first anniversary of her death

Sinead O'Connor was also a hot topic after her fans and family members criticized the late singer's wax figure at the National Wax Museum Plus in Dublin.

The museum unveiled its new attraction on Thursday, July 25, to mark the first anniversary of O'Connor's passing, describing it as a "stunning figure" of the singer. However, not 24 hours later, the museum faced backlash from the later singer's fans and her brother, John O'Connor, forcing them to remove the wax figure from its display.

Talking about his sister's wax figure on RTE Radio's Liveline on Friday, July 26, John quipped:

"[I] didn't think it looked like her [Sinead] at all."

He further criticized the wax figure during the call, saying:

"I was shocked, I thought it looked [like] something between a mannequin and something out of the Thunderbirds."

John also added that the figure looked "hideous," and that Sinead O'Connor "would have been very fond of looking well." The singer's brother also noted that if the display was supposed to honor her memory one year after she passed away, he thinks it's "inappropriate" to put up something that is "hideous."

He wasn't the only one who thinks that the late singer's wax figure wasn't a great depiction of her as many fans pointed out the same on social media.

As for The National Museum, they responded to Friday's feedback via an Instagram post that they are launching a new project that would be a "more accurate representation" of Sinead O'Connor. They also acknowledged that the current figure "did not meet our high standards" or the expectations of her fans.
