On October 1, 2024, Amazon removed Kim's Lost Words: A Journey for Justice, From the Other Side..., a purported memoir of the late Kim Porter, which was independently published by Todd Christopher Guzze. Notably, Porter passed away from pneumonia in 2018.

The memoir, which leveled various allegations against her ex-partner Sean "Diddy" Combs, was pulled from the platform after their children denounced the book as fabrication. An Amazon spokesperson released a statement announcing that the book will no longer be available for purchase, saying:

“We were made aware of a dispute regarding this title and have notified the publisher. The book is not currently available for sale in our store.”

Todd Christopher Guzze published the book under the pseudonym Jamal T. Millwood on September 6, 2024. The book skyrocketed as a best-seller following Diddy's s*xtrafficking charges and subsequent arrest.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Guzze claimed that two sources close to Combs and Porter reached out to him with a “flash drive, documents and tapes" from Kim Porter, using which he assembled the memoir.

"They said they had her flash drive. I didn't ask too many questions about how they got it [or] where did it come from," he said.

Todd Christopher Guzze believed his Kim Porter memoir "to be true"

Todd Christopher Guzze, who goes by Chris Todd, described himself as an author, producer and investigative journalist. In the interview with Rolling Stone, he claimed he came into possession of Kim Porter's alleged memoir after Diddy's ex-partner Cassie Ventura sued the rapper for r*pe and abuse in November 2023.

Guzze added that he believed everything mentioned in the memoir to be true, but refused to answer if and how he fact-checked the details. The book brought forth several allegations against Diddy, accusing the rapper of assault and s*xual coercion.

"If somebody put my feet to the fire and they said, ‘Life or death, is that book real?’ I have to say I don't know. But it’s real enough to me. Sometimes you have to just put it out there. Maybe not 100 per cent of the book is true, but maybe 80 per cent is. That is to get those people to come forward and either corroborate or deny [the claims], and that helps me as an investigator to know the truth," Guzze said.

Al B. Sure!, Porter's former spouse who was also mentioned in the memoir, condemned the book. He claimed it contained "fabricated bulls**t", referring to a chapter that alleged he had been intimate with Diddy.

According to court documents obtained by Roling Stone, he threatened to sue the responsible parties for the book. On September 27, his legal team sent our cease-and-desist letters to Guzze and Amazon to stop sales and retract the alleged defamatory statements.

Kim Porter was not working on a memoir, her friends claim

Al B. Sure! was not the only person who criticized Kim Porter's purported memoir. Kimora Lee Simmons and Lawanda Lane, her close friends, released a joint statement to Rolling Stone, saying Porter had not been working on a memoir before her death. Lane added that Porter was an "extremely private" person.

Another friend, Eboni Elektra, slammed the book for its "blatant lies."

Sean Combs and Kim Porter had an on-again off-again relationship between the early 1990s and 2007. The couple share three children, their son Christain, and twin daughters D'Lila Star and Jessie James. Porter also had a son, Quincy Brown, from her marriage to Al B. Sure!
