Jeezy's ex, Mahi, real name Mahlet Gebremedhin, has defended the rapper amid Jeannie Mai's abuse allegations. On Friday, June 7, 2024, Mahi filed a sworn affidavit defending the Put On rapper, testifying to his "caring" behavior.
Per Page Six, citing court documents, Mahi called Jay Wayne Jenkins, a.k.a. Jeezy, a "devoted, caring, and present" father to their daughter and his eldest child. She asserted-
"For almost four years, Jay’s eldest child lived with us and I was able to see their relationship grow every day. At no point was Jay ever physically, mentally or emotionally abusive to his children or I."
She described him as "one of the most peaceful people." In addition to Mahi, the rapper also had his and Mai's nanny, Minhee Hoffler, submit a similar affidavit where she stated he was a "loving" father and a "hardworking dad."
"As a caretaker, I believe Mr. Jenkins gives his daughters the support they need as they grow into young women in the future,” wrote Hoffler.
The news comes in light of Jay and Jeannie's divorce proceedings taking a turn when the latter accused him of verbal and physical assault.
Jeezy tied the knot with Jeannie Mai in March 2021
Jeezy married stylist and The Real host, Jeannie Mai, in a private ceremony held in Atlanta on March 27, 2021, after meeting the latter on her talk show in January 2019. The couple welcomed their daughter, Monaco, in January 2022. However, in September 2023, the rapper filed for divorce.
Per an article by ET (April 2024) citing court documents, Jay was separated from Jeannie with "no hope for reconciliation" as they have a prenuptial agreement. He was seeking joint custody of Monaco.
Their divorce proceedings took an ugly turn when Mai accused the All There rapper of verbal and physical assault, detailing two separate incidents from 2022. She also shared screenshots of WhatsApp exchanges with the musician where she sent him photos of bruises with the message, "Babbbby... I have a lot of dresses to wear this week."
Jay allegedly also apologized for one of the incidents, as seen in the screenshots.
The rapper, for his part, denied all allegations, adding that "truth will prevail." He stated-
"This malicious attempt to tarnish my character and disrupt my family is ridiculous. It's disheartening to witness the manipulation and deceit at play and at this time my main concern is being an active father to our daughter."
Per ET, Jeezy later filed documents claiming that Mai wanted another child with him, which he refused. He claimed she was accusing him of domestic violence because he refused to have a second child.
A representative for Mai scoffed at the pro-Jay sentiments and told Page Six that the rapper was trying to "distort the truth."
Before marrying Mai, Jay was dating Mahi, with whom he shares a daughter, Amra Nor Jenkins, born in 2014. He also has a son, Jadarius Dykes, born in 1996 with Tynesha Dykes.
