Post Malone's latest feature on Fortnight has received positive feedback after its release on April 19, 2024. The song is getting further recognition as it marks his collaboration with Taylor Swift and has been included in the soundtrack of the latter's new album, The Tortured Poets Department.
Malone shared a few words for Swift through his latest Instagram post on April 21, 2024. He added a photo where the duo were posing together and wrote:
"It's once in a lifetime that someone like @taylorswift comes into this world. I am floored by your heart and your mind, and I am beyond honored to have been asked to help you with your journey. I love you so much. Thank you Tay."
The comments section was flooded, with most people praising the result of the collaboration. Others requested for similar tracks in the future.
Taylor Swift also expressed gratitude towards Post Malone for his contribution to the new album: Music video and other details explored
The music video of Fortnight was helmed by Taylor Swift and Post Malone portrayed her ex-lover. Swift additionally served as a writer for the video and her latest album has already broken a few records on streaming platforms, including Spotify.
A day after the album's release, Swift shared a few pictures on her Instagram post, including ones where she was working with Malone. She thanked Post Malone for being a part of the album and wrote:
"@postmalone blew me away on set as our tortured tragic hero and I'm so grateful to him for everything he put into this collaboration. I'm still laughing from getting to work with the coolest guys on earth @ethanhawke and @mrjoshcharles (tortured poets, meet your colleagues from down the hall, the dead poets)."
Furthermore, Swift also addressed the time she was preparing the video, saying that she aimed to bring the worlds that initially came to her mind as a backdrop for the main track. She continued:
"Pretty much everything in it is a metaphor or a reference to one corner of the album or another. For me, this video turned out to be the perfect visual representation of this record and the stories I tell in it."
The video, where Rodrigo Prieto worked as a cinematographer, featured Swift with two scientists, portrayed by Ethan Hawke and Josh Charles. The duo is spotted conducting a few tests on the artist by strapping her to a machine, which is eventually damaged at one point and Lover singer is saved by Malone.
Post Malone had previously addressed his experience of working with Taylor Swift
The complete soundtrack for The Tortured Poets Department was officially disclosed by Taylor Swift at the Grammy Awards in February this year. While Post Malone's appearance was confirmed at the same time, he spoke to Apple Music a few days later on February 8, 2024, saying that it was "amazing" to work with Swift.
"She's so sweet and so kind and talented and she hit me up and said, 'Let's do it.' And I was like, 'Hell yeah.'"
Malone mentioned that he was excited to listen to Fortnight and as mentioned earlier, the song has now created history, becoming the most streamed song on Spotify in a day. The news was even announced by Spotify through their official page on X (Twitter).
While The Tortured Poets Department featured 16 songs in the soundtrack, she released an expansion of the same, adding 15 more tracks. Taylor Swift announced the same through her Instagram page, describing it as a "2 am surprise" and added a cover of the expansion in the post.
