She also criticized conservative author Alec Lace for calling Harris the "original hawk tuah girl" on Fox News on July 5. For the unversed, "Hawk Tuah" is a reference to 22-year-old Haliey Welch's onomatopoeic answer, alluding to an oral s*x act that went viral on the internet.

Cardi B branded the comparison disrespectful, adding that men have become very comfortable publicly disrespecting women. She also marveled at the people being misogynistic towards Harris, wondering what they would say about the rapper's past as an adult entertainment worker.

“I feel like muthaf***as feel so comfortable in disrespecting women. That s*** makes me like her. Like the way that y’all disrespect her as a woman, it makes me like her. If you can disrespect a woman like that, I can only imagine what you think about a woman like me."

"It’s very disgusting” — Cardi B on the misogyny faced by Kamala Harris

Cardi B was one of the celebrities who supported Kamala Harris when President Joe Biden withdrew from the elections and endorsed the Vice President as the Democratic candidate. On Wednesday night, the rapper went on social media to defend Harris against people spreading the misogynistic narrative that she 'slept her way to the top.'

“I always knew how people are when it comes to women but the disrespect? Let me tell you something, if you don’t like her as a politician, that’s you. But the disrespect that she’s getting, all because she’s a woman, it’s very disgusting.”

The rapper, who previously claimed that she was not a feminist, said that the vitriolic hate Harris is receiving for being a woman was making her rethink her decision. She added that men have always equated a woman's success to her body, irrespective of whether the woman was wearing a suit or "showing her a** off" as an adult entertainer.

In her speech, Cardi B ridiculed the notion that Harris was in her current position of power because she 'slept her way to the top,' continuing that the Democratic Party nominated her because she was a capable woman deemed good enough to be Vice President and an eventual President.

“What, she f***ed Joe Biden? She f***ed the whole democratic party? That the whole democratic party decided that this woman was good enough to be a vice president and eventually a good president. I am so tired that if a woman is successful, it's like she has to sleep with somebody, she has to f*** somebody, and I really hate that narrative.”

Cardi B also actively defended Kamala Harris on X when people speculated on her relationship with her husband, Doug Emhoff. The rapper questioned what Harris's husband had to do with her competency as a potential president.

According to Billboard, this tweet came after a barrage of accusations alluding to Harris cheating on her husband to gain political success.

On July 21, 2024, President Joe Biden released an official statement that he was withdrawing from the 2024 elections and endorsed Kamala Harris in his stead. This came after many, including former President Barack Obama, questioned the aging president's competency to govern the US for another four years.
