Rolling Loud music festival head Tariq Cheri took Drake's name on Big Boy TV, where the host asked him if there was any artist that he wanted to be a part of the event, but couldn't make it happen. Cheri had a conversation with the Los Angeles radio personality, where he said:

"I’ll say it, I don’t care. I feel like Drake’s ducking us. I got no beef with Drake. I like Drake, I feel like he’s a great artist. We’ve been trying to book him forever..."

Cheri further said:

"They were like, 'You need to make it special.' Well, alright, [let's do] three nights of Drake. You [can] be the headliner for three nights. I heard a certain festival in Europe is about to steal our idea."

Tariq Cheri even clarified that they had offered the Canadian rapper to headline three nights at the music festival. Cheri then mentioned that some other festival was trying to opt for a similar deal. It is unclear why Drizzy wouldn't want to be part of the popular music festival.

The lineup for this year's music festival, scheduled for March 15-16 at Inglewood’s Hollywood Park, has been revealed recently. As clear as it could be, Drake is not present this year, the lineup includes A$AP Rocky, Playboi Carti, and Peso Pluma, who will be headlining the event this year.

The festival will also be celebrating its 10th year, as per reports by Variety, dated January 7, 2025, and more than 75 artists will perform there. The outlet further revealed that there would be other attractions, including carnival rides, immersive experiences, and art installations.

Drake had previously turned down performing chances at significant events like the Super Bowl

While it was confusing as to why Drizzy turned down the offer of performing and even headlining three days at the Rolling Loud music festival, it wasn't new for the Canadian rapper. He had previously turned down Super Bowl a number of times.

In September 2024, Steve Stoute appeared on The Pivot Podcast and revealed that Drake had turned down the Super Bowl on two separate occasions. While he had turned down performing at several events, he was also seen in multiple others including the Dreamville Fest, Camp Flog Gnaw, and his own OVO Fest.

In October 2023, Tariq Cheri shared his dream lineup for Rolling Loud, while appearing on Power 106 Los Angeles. According to Cheri, such a lineup would consist of Drizzy, Jay-Z, Eminem, Bad Bunny, and Peso Pluma.

According to the Variety, Matt Zingler and Tariq Cheri, the co-founders and co-CEOs of the event expressed excitement with the new two-day format. They said:

"We’re excited to switch things up with a two-day format that keeps all the energy of Rolling Loud but makes it more affordable for our fans."

The article further stated that the general admission tickets for the festival would be available for $179. VIP passes, on the other hand, would cost around $499.

The passes will go on sale on Friday, January 10, 2025, at 12 pm PT.
