A female Indian tourist has come forward with claims of racial abuse in Tirana, Albania. The incident took place during a Jason Derulo concert at the Selman Stërmasi Stadium on August 9, 2024. A group of local girls allegedly told her to "Go back to your country." The tourist, identified as Pranoti, was attending the pop star's show.
She took to TikTok, @dr_pranoti, to cite her grievances; the video has since gone viral. According to her account, while waiting in line for the concert, a group of four local girls allegedly cut in front of her. When she confronted them about their behavior, they allegedly responded with racist remarks, repeatedly telling her to go back to her country. Furthermore, she claimed that they laughed and mocked her by calling her "mother."
She ended the video by saying:
"They called me their mother and all of that jazz. I feel very welcome, Albania. Great job, thank you very much," in a sarcastic tone.
The video garnered mixed reactions, with some defending the locals and others standing up for the girl. Some have called on the Albanian government and local authorities to take steps to address the situation.
"2 bad apples dont account for the whole harvest. I'm just saying," one user tweeted.
"Good advice. Take the suggestion," another said.
"She confronted this very politely. She represented her country in wholesome manner," one user appreciated.
