Rapper Desiigner was sentenced after exposing himself on a plane earlier this year. The sentence included 120 hours of community service, a fine of $5,000, and probation for two years. However, he was not classified as a s*x offender. In a recent appearance on the No Jumper podcast with host Adam22, Desiigner discussed the incident and his mental health state, explaining:

"I didn't know what I was doing. I was fully tweaked out of my mind. This is when I was vegan I didn't have enough sugars and... I was kind of like out of my body..."

He also mentioned that the federal officers were waiting for him when the plane landed. Desiigner said in the interview that he was worried about his reputation and didn't want people to think that he was a "pervert."

For the unversed, the incident occurred on April 17 during a flight from Tokyo to Minneapolis. The rapper was caught m*sturbating by one of the Delta Airlines flight attendants and, despite covering himself, was seen by crew members on five additional occasions. Authorities reported that he continued the behavior even after being asked to stop multiple times.

Desiigner's attorney Ryan Garry gave insights into the recent legal case related to the rapper

In an exclusive conversation with PEOPLE published on September 16, 2023, attorney Ryan Garry clarified that, contrary to some news outlet reports, Desiigner wouldn't be registered as a s*x offender. Garry explained:

"Since this was a federal misdemeanor, the sentencing judgement states that if the State of California or some other government entity requires that Mr. Selby must register as a s*x offender, then he must."

He added that after proper consultation with the parties involved in the case as well as with the lawyers and upon significant research, it had been concluded that there wouldn't be a registration under the aforementioned label. The lawyer then said:

"If some government agency in California disagrees with our analysis, then we will address the matter at that point in time."

PEOPLE obtained the legal documents related to the case, where it had been mentioned that he was charged on one count of "obscenely and indecently exposed genitalia in a public place" by the District of Minnesota. Attorney Ryan Garry also noted that his client had taken steps to rectify his mistake and emphasized the importance of mental health.

"Mental health, especially these days, is an absolute thing. He was traveling back from his performances overseas feeling extremely dehydrated and exhausted," Garry continued.

After the incident in April, The Associated Press reported that Desiigner told the feds that he "didn't get much" in Japan and was attracted to one of the flight attendants. Shortly after, the rapper issued an apology on Instagram, stating that he was "ashamed" of his actions on the flight.

At that time, Desiigner also announced that he would be taking some time off from work to focus and improve his mental health condition.
