A video recently went viral on social media, in which an alleged brawl broke out between Travis Scott and Tyga's friend Alexander "AE" Edwards. On Wednesday, May 29, Edwards spoke to TMZ and claimed everything was fine between him and Scott. However, he did not shed light on what happened at the Cannes afterparty.
Edwards further addressed the alleged altercation and said,
"I don't got no hard feelings. It is what it is, it went how it went. That's it."
When the brawl footage initially went viral, netizens assumed it was Travis Scott and Tyga. Fans even assumed they were fighting over a common former partner- Kylie Jenner. However, later, it was speculated that Scott was in a brawl with Alexander "AE" Edwards.
Apart from Edwards, neither Tyga nor Travis Scott has spoken to the media and revealed anything about the fight.
Tyga's friend Alexander "AE" Edwards claimed that he was all good with Travis Scott, after the alleged altercation a few days ago
Hollywood Unlocked first released footage of two men involved in what seemed like a heated altercation. It was speculated that the men were rappers Travis Scott and Tyga at an afterparty of the Cannes. Rumors had been spreading like wildfire, with fans trying to figure out what happened to the rappers.
Later, it was speculated that Tyga wasn't directly involved in the brawl. But it was his friend Alexander "AE" Edwards. While Edwards didn't reveal the real reason behind the alleged brawl, he told TMZ he would want to protect his people. He added:
"Shoutout Southside, that's my n***a, I know he was just defending his boy [Travis] and doing what he was supposed to be doing. That's his boy."
Upon being asked if Edwards had had any conversation with Scott since the alleged incident, he denied it. He said,
"Nah, they got the message. It's a healthy fade."
Tyga was apparently nearby when the altercation happened between Edwards and Scott. TMZ has previously reported that Edwards intervened after Scott allegedly snatched the mic from the host's hand. This reportedly led to the fight, which was then captured.
No party had officially spoken about it or made any statement about the alleged altercation. While TMZ reported that Edwards was the "instigator," whether the brawl was intentional is unclear. Upon being asked if his girlfriend Cher played a role in the entire scenario, Edwards used a line from Future's GTA and said,
"Whatever I'm with, my b*tch with it too!"
In the video, the song was playing in the background when the altercation occurred. TMZ, however, reported that just like Tyga, when Cher did not seemingly become a part of the brawl that broke out at the afterparty.
Alexander "AE" Edwards and an assistant of Tyga allegedly beat up Travis Scott
While speculations about the altercation were rising, Luxury Tax 50 posted a story on Instagram, claiming that Tyga had run from the scene after the altercation. This narrative seemed to contradict what TMZ reported, according to whom Scott and Southside left the place after the brawl. Tyga and Alexander "AE" Edwards stayed until the end.
Fans are still left to speculate what the actual reason behind the brawl could be. Page Six, however, confirmed that despite the fact that both Tyga and Travis Scott dated Kylie in the past, the altercation wasn't about her. An insider reportedly told the outlet,
"The history is there [but] it’s not like that’s necessarily what was the cause [of this fight]."
They also further admitted that there had been some heat between the two rappers because of their shared ex. According to an eye witness, it was Tyga's assistant and Alexander "AE" Edwards who began beating Scott up after Southside allegedly pushed AE. Page Six further added that, as per multiple witnesses, Tyga did not hit anybody in the brawl and was by the DJ booth when all of this unfolded.
An insider revealed that throughout the entire brawl, Tyga seemed quite "chill." While people were fighting and throwing punches at each other at the afterparty, the security successfully broke up the alleged brawl. Another insider also claimed that nobody sustained serious injuries in the altercation. A source told Page Six,
"The party went until about 9 a.m., but it was beginning to wind down [during the incident]. The fight went on for a pretty long time before security got in, someone cut the music and finally calmed everything down."
According to them, the party went on normally after the brawl ended, as if nothing happened. While initially, neither Travis Scott nor Tyga or Alexander "AE" Edwards were ready to give an official statement addressing the fight, AE later told the media that everything was fine as of now.
