Angel Carter, twin sister of the late singer Aaron Carter, has opened up about her brother’s death. She expressed feeling a heart-wrenching anticipation for years before he died in 2022. She shared her journey during a conversation on The Squeeze podcast on June 26. Taylor Lautner and his wife, Taylor Dome, host the podcast.

During the June 26 episode, Angel, 36, revealed that she did not feel shocked when her brother, Aaron, died at 34. Their sister Leslie battled addiction and died at 25 in 2012 from an overdose, which was already preparing her for the worst. “Her death completely blindsided me,” Angel recalled. “When she died, I was already in therapy preparing for Aaron’s death. I thought he was gonna die.”

Angel explained how Leslie's death was a grim warning. It made her fear what could happen to Aaron. Aaron's struggles with mental health were well known. His addiction issues were also well-documented.

“I feared it my entire 20s, I knew this day was going to come, and I think he knew it too cause he could not get out of it.”

Angel Carter reflects on the foreseen tragedy of her brother Aaron Carter’s death

Angel reflected on the tough love she tried to offer Aaron Carter, emphasizing the importance of family intervention in such critical situations. “He needed his parents to step up,” she stated

When his parents, Jane and Robert Carter, divorced in 2004, Angel revealed Aaron felt responsible. He thought his fame and money had caused their split. He saw the greed it brought into their relationship.

“As a kid, he thought it was his fault, and he carried that with him throughout his entire life. He thought that the success destroyed the family, and it wasn’t his responsibility to carry all that weight.”

Angel explained that Aaron Carter had his innocence stripped away from him. He was often on extensive tours year-round. He just wanted to come home. Instead of telling him to come home, his parents would urge him to finish the tour. They would promise to buy him a boat or something else with his money when he got back.

“He just wanted to be home,” Angel added. Angel Carter said that Aaron Carter just wanted to be a kid. He wanted to make friends and go outside to play. She noted that his innocence was not protected.

Angel Carter has only one surviving sibling, Nick Carter from the Backstreet Boys. She remembered their father, Robert Gene Carter, who passed away in 2017. Two years before he died, he called Angel and tearfully apologized, admitting his mistakes. He said, "I was a bad parent. I'm really sorry for what I did."

She continued, "Just hearing that from him, that was all I needed."
