Popular rapper and record producer, Dr. Dre, recently shared that he did not like this year's breakdancing competition at the Paris Olympics 2024. During an interview with Entertainment Tonight on August 13, 2024, he talked about a "particular person," referring to Australian breakdancer Rachel Gunn (aka Raygun) who went viral for her breakdancing moves during the B-girls event.
Commenting on her act, Dr. Dre added:
“I did not like that. It’s so many great breakdancers, I don’t know why they had this particular person doing that. It was funny, I got some laughs out of it, but what the f–k? There are incredible breakdancers out right now — I don’t know how that happened."
Furthermore, the rapper then expressed his interest in competing in the next Olympics, which are scheduled for 2028. Dr. Dre stated that he wishes to be part of the USA Archery Team:
"I’m trying to tryout for the Olympics in 2028. I’m dead-a*s serious."
He continued and exclaimed how he was actively involved in archery during his junior high years, however, he stopped for many years before developing an interest in the game once again.
For the unversed, this year marked the first time breakdancing was featured in the Olympics. Also called B-Boying, the newly introduced sport consisted of two categories, one for women and the other for men. While Canada and Japan won gold in the sport, France and Lithuania bagged silver, and China and the USA earned bronze medal
"I feel like I could do anything” — Dr. Dre talks about practicing archery for the next Olympics
As Dr. Dre shared his thoughts on the breakdancing competition, he also expressed his wish to participate in the next Olympics in the archery sport. Talking to Entertainment Tonight, the rapper mentioned how he has been practicing for the 2028 Olympics:
"My son bought me a set-up. I don’t know if it was for my birthday or Father’s Day or something like that, so I have it set up in my backyard."
Dr. Dre continued:
"And I heard qualifying for the Olympics is 77 feet, and I practice at 90. Wouldn't that be interesting to go, especially with it being here in L.A., and win the gold medal?" he asked confidently. "I feel like I could do anything."
