Shawn Corey Carter, a.k.a. Jay-Z, has denied allegations of r*ping a 13-year-old along with Diddy. On Sunday, December 8, 2024, the rapper responded to the claims via his company Roc Nation's X account, calling them a "blackmail attempt." He wrote:
"You have made a terrible error in judgement thinking that all 'celebrities' are the same. I'm not from your world. I'm a young man who made it out of the project of Brooklyn. We don't play these types of games. We have very strict codes and honor."
The rapper continued:
"I look forward to showing you just how different I am."

Jay-Z's post follows an NBC News (first) report revealing that an anonymous accuser (identified as Jane Doe in the lawsuit) alleged that the rapper r*ped her in 2000 at an MTV Video Music Awards after-party. The civil complaint was initially filed in October 2024 naming Diddy as the defendant but was refiled on Sunday to include Carter.
"These allegations are so heinous in nature that I implore you to file a criminal complaint, not a civil one!!"— Jay-Z about the lawsuit
NBC News, citing the lawsuit, alleged that Sean Combs and Jay-Z drugged and took turns r*ping a 13-year-old while an unnamed female celebrity watched. The incident allegedly occurred at an MTV VMA after-party held at a New York City residence. The victim is reportedly seeking unspecified damages.
The complaint was filed by Texas lawyer Tony Buzbee, who announced in a press conference in October that he was representing 120 new alleged victims of Diddy. Buzbee alleged that 25 of them were minors at the time of the alleged assaults.
In his lengthy response, Carer explained that his attorney received a "blackmail" letter from Buzbee, who allegedly hoped that the "nature of these allegations and the public scrutiny" would make the Encore hitmaker settle. However, the rapper stated that "it had the opposite effect" and wanted to "expose" Buzbee as a fraud. Jay-Z continued:
"These allegations are so heinous in nature that I implore you to file a criminal complaint, not a civil one!! Whomever would commit such a crime against a minor should be locked away, would you not agree? These alleged victims would deserve real justice if that were the case."
Carter noted that he did a "bit of research" on the Texas-based lawyer and found a pattern of "these types of theatrics." Calling Buzbee a "deplorable human," Jay-Z added:
"I have seen your kind many times over. I'm more than prepared to deal with your type. You claim to be a marine?! Marines are known for their valor, you have neither honor nor dignity."
The Roc Nation founder expressed his heartbreak for his family, noting that his children would have to "endure" the backlash. Referencing coming from a "project in Brooklyn," he explained that "we respect children" while Buzbee "exploit(s) them for personal gain."
"Only your network of conspiracy theorists, fake physics, will believe the idiotic claims you have levied against me that, if not for the seriousness surrounding harm to kids, would be laughable."
This is not the first time Jay-Z's name has come up in connection with Diddy. Federal authorities arrested Combs in September on charges of s*x trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution. According to his indictment, the rapper allegedly ran a "criminal enterprise" that s*xually abused "women and others" for years.
These allegations included participating in "elaborate and produced s*x performances" at his "freak off" parties for the benefit of Diddy and his guests. Since then, speculation has arisen regarding which celebrities attended and participated in the parties, including Jay-Z.
Diddy, for his part, has denied all accusations levied against him. His lawyer previously stated that Buzbee is only "interested in media attention rather than the truth."
Combs is currently being held without bail at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. His trial is scheduled to begin next May.
