As the world continues to mourn Liam Payne's tragic death, many celebrities have come forward with statements and tributes. On Wednesday, October 16, 2024, Liam Payne died from the injuries he suffered after falling from the third floor of his hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
According to the Associated Press, Payne fell from the balcony of his room at the CasaSur Hotel in Palermo. Alberto Crescenti, the director of the Buenos Aires Emergency Medical Service (SAME), told a local outlet that his fall resulted in "very serious injuries" that were "incompatible with life." Medics on the scene reportedly declared him dead on the spot.
Several celebrities have since spoken out about Payne's death, including Charlie Puth, Paris Hilton, Zedd, and Dan Wootton. On Thursday, singer Halsey took to her Tumblr to write:
"I loved one direction with an all-consuming force when i was younger. it hurts deeply to mourn someone you were a massive fan of as teenager, and became a peer of as an adult."
She continued:
"i know people change and grief is unsure or complicated when it’s attached to a fond memory or the feeling a person gave you and not tangibly the person themself. i can see many of you on here are struggling with that right now and i understand."
Halsey also wrote about the time she purchased a home previously owned by Payne. Using a metaphor to describe the personal ghosts that haunt us, she added,
"They live in parts of us that are harder to reach, and they go wherever we do."
Payne's last song, Teardrops, was released in March 2024.

In a joint statement shared on the band's official account, his former bandmates explained they were "devastated" by the news, adding:
"In time, and when everyone is able to, there will be more to say. But for now, we will take some time to grieve and process the loss of our brother, who we loved dearly."

The Havana hitmaker took to her IG stories to thank Liam Payne for all the "joy" he brought her and her friends. She added that he made an "impression" and that it was a "tragedy to have him gone way too soon."
