Everything to know about rapper Lil Durk's arrest so far
On October 24, 2024, rapper Lil Durk, originally named Durk Devontay Banks, was arrested by federal agents on alleged murder-for-hire charges. The rapper's arrest came after five other members of his label, Only The Family (OTF), were arrested for the same charges on the same day.
The members face charges of being alleged co-conspirators in the 2022 murder-for-hire plot of Quando Rondo's cousin, Saviay'a Robinson, in Los Angeles. An affidavit filed in the federal court about Lil Durk's case was based on testimony from FBI agent Sarah Corcoran.
As per Forbes, the affidavit alleged that the Chicago-based rapper placed a bounty on Quando Rondo's life. It also cited anonymous witnesses and reportedly included flight tickets and other evidence suggesting the purchases were made through credit cards associated with the rapper and his label.
The affidavit also reportedly suggested that the alleged plot was formed as a revenge for the 2020 murder of Banks' fellow rapper and friend, King Von. As per the US District Attorney’s office and the affidavit, Banks allegedly tried to escape the United States before his arrest. The rapper reportedly booked flights to Italy, Switzerland, and Dubai but did not board them.
As per the indictment filed in US District Court in Los Angeles, the charges against the five other OTF members, namely Kavon London Grant, Deandre Dontrell Wilson, Keith Jones, David Brian Lindsey and Asa Houston, include murder-for-conspiracy and murder-for-hire. They also face charges for the use of a machine gun, resulting in death.
As per prosecutors, the five men in custody were allegedly involved in a conspiracy to kill rapper Quando Rondo in 2022. This alleged plan was a retaliation to the death of King Von, allegedly by Rondo's associates. Von was shot to death outside a hookah bar in Atlanta in November 2020. One of Rondo's associates, Timothy "Lul Tim" Leeks, was also charged with murder with regard to Von's death.
The prosecutors further alleged that the five OTF members traveled to Los Angeles to allegedly murder Quando Rondo as retaliation. However, they instead ended up murdering Rondo's cousin, Saviay’a Robinson, who was a fellow passenger in the rapper's car during the altercation.
