Rapper 50 Cent recently shared his thoughts on Jay-Z's current legal issues. Amidst reports that the New York City rapper has been accused of s*xually assaulting a 13-year-old girl in a lawsuit filed on Sunday, December 8, 50 Cent also made some lighthearted comments about the same on Monday, December 9. One of these remarks was a question about the 2025 Super Bowl halftime show.
During his appearance in an interview with radio host Big Boy, while explaining his most recent tweet about the halftime show, 50 said:
“I’m asking for Kendrick. I’m just trying to figure if we’re still doing everything.”
On December 9, 50 Cent took to X and questioned the next year’s Super Bowl halftime show’s future, which was set to be headlined by Kendrick Lamar. He uploaded a picture of himself with a question in the caption:
“Ok I don’t know what’s going on, but are we gonna still have the Super Bowl.. I’m just asking for a friend..”
The halftime show has been produced by Jay-Z's Roc Nation since 2019. Now that the rapper is facing legal issues, 50 wanted to know if the event is still happening. He also opined that the allegations might cause the NFL to sever ties with the rapper and Roc Nation.
50 Cent opened up and gave his opinion on Jay-Z and his recent legal issues
During the same interview, while talking about Jay-Z's lawsuit, interviewer Big Boy asked:
“So recently.. we look at the accusations… and there's an accusation about Jay-Z and Diddy and a teenager, 13-year-old, and we were speaking about just the statement, the statement you were saying you felt like that was calculating.”
Here he referred to the statement of the rapper’s lawyers. Discussing the same, 50 Cent said:
“That statement… was written by a lawyer, because it's a point where it kind of gets aggressive. He says, like, you're going to find out, like, how I'll handle this. And that's an attorney who wants to be combative with another attorney. That's not like your publicist would say this…”
In a statement shared on Sunday evening, the New York City rapper denied all allegations and said:
“These allegations are so heinous in nature that I implore you to file a criminal complaint, not a civil one!! Whomever would commit such a crime against a minor should be locked away, would you not agree?" Carter said in a statement to NBC News. "These alleged victims would deserve real justice if that were the case.”
Then, when Big Boy showed him his X post and asked about the caption, he said:
“You know, I'm just trying to figure out if we're still doing everything. Because they will fall back, but in the NFL, they won't necessarily be associated with that.”
The Empire State of Mind rapper has been partnering with the NFL to produce Super Bowl halftime shows since 2019. In August of the same year, he joined forces with the Football League to start selecting artists for the Super Bowl halftime performance.
As per a BBC's August 16 report, he stated that the agreement would "enhance live game experiences and amplify the league's social justice efforts.” However, now Jay-Z's relationship with the NFL has allegedly become rocky. On the other hand, referring to Jay’s wife and kid following the legal lawsuit, he further said:
“I just hope things are alright for him internally, at the crib... His daughter [Blue Ivy] being old enough [to understand]... She’s about 13... So it’s the same age as his kids what [they are] saying he did...”
During the same interview, 50 Cent was also asked if he thought Diddy was “cooked” and his career was over. Diddy was arrested in September and charged with racketeering conspiracy, s*x trafficking, and transportation to engage in pr*stitution.
To this, the rapper replied that the accusations build up when one considers all of these claims together. However, nobody is aware of how much of these claims are true.
The interview came after a lawsuit was filed on Sunday, December 9, accusing Jay-Z and Diddy of s*xually assaulting a minor at an after-party following the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards. Nevertheless, both have refuted the accusations made against them.
While Diddy is now in prison due to the charges, the allegations against Jay-Z are yet to be proven.
