Ice Cube has responded to critics going after him after a 2020 video featuring the rapper talking about his views on voting resurfaced online this week. The original video dates back to September 2020 ahead of that year's US Presidential Elections.

With the 2024 Presidential elections around the corner, Cube's video resurfaced online, leading to massive backlash on X. Here's the clip:

Quoting the 2020 video on X, a user tagged Ice Cube and wrote in a now-unavailable post:

“I truly will never listen to any idiot like yourself who is in bed with steve bannon. You want to vote for trump? go right ahead a*shole."

Cube responded to the X user's comments and wrote:

“I’m not in bed with none of these clowns. So go get another booster shot and st*u."

Fans were not kind to the rapper's comments after he responded to an X user, with many criticizing Cube's allegedly anti-vaccine stance. Many also assumed that Cube is a Donald Trump supporter.

In the resurfaced clip from 2020, Ice Cube urged the Black community in the United States to be cautious about who they are voting for. The rapper said:

"Be skeptical of anybody telling you to vote and not telling you to ask for anything or to tell you to just vote and not to get anything for your vote. That’s not how it works. That’s not the process. You don’t vote just to vote. You vote because you’re getting something, or your community is getting something."

In the 2020 elections, Democratic President Joe Biden came to power by defeating former Republican president Donald Trump. Trump is all set to run for President in the upcoming 2024 elections against Vice President Kamala Harris.

Ice Cube mentioned in his 2020 video that the Black community should only vote for leaders who can do something for them or give something to the community. He continued:

"A lot of people have been in that place for a long time and we ain’t got s**t. That s**t is going to end. We are going to get what we are supposed to get, period. And anybody asking you not to ask, I wouldn’t listen to them because that’s the process. Every community asks for what they want."

Meanwhile, Ice Cube also shared his thoughts about the upcoming 2024 Presidential elections in an interview with Fox Business earlier this year in May 2024.

The rapper was asked whether influential celebrities, including rappers like himself, supporting a certain candidate could influence public opinion in terms of voting.

Cube believed that every citizen's vote would ultimately be a "personal decision," and said:

"I think it's a personal decision. I don't know if they care if any rappers or entertainers get up there and say anything. It's really a personal decision. People know who Trump is. People know who Biden is. They're going to make their decision no matter who gets up there and pushes whatever agenda they want."

When asked about Donald Trump's growing momentum, Cube claimed he has been out of touch with the news as he was busy on a tour in Canada. However, he believed Trump could bring a solution to the supposed chaos in New York City.
