Retired rapper Joe Budden has made it to the headlines after his recent conversation with rapper Lil Yachty. In an episode of Yachty’s A Safe Place Podcast released on August 9, Budden was seen engaging in a light-hearted debate with the rapper, who claimed to ‘out rap’ the retired singer over an Alchemist beat. Although stunned, Budden replied that he could battle for fun owing to his retirement.
“I’m not even dignifying this. Now the batons getting rough. I would do it for fun because I’m retired. If I were not retired, just the thought of this would be an insult to me,” said the 43-year-old ex-rapper.
His reaction came after Lil Yachty asked whether Joe could write a better verse than him. The retired rapper countered by asking who would pick the beat, to which Lil Yachty replied, “Obviously not you.” However, Joe’s replied,
“Well, if you pick the beat, it’s gonna sound like when the Nintendo game is f***** up. Now you gotta find some whole new pocket.”
Joe Budden retired from rapping in 2018. Since his retirement, he has been working as a broadcaster.
Joe Budden impressed by Lil Yachty’s music
The podcast episode featured various jovial interactions between the rappers. The One Night singer asked Joe whether he thought he (Lil Yachty) would last till the day or not. Joe’s honest reaction was that he didn’t think so, but Yachty has defied the odds. He has written some of the music that Joe never thought he could. As a result, Lil Yachty has now created his own lane, and Joe could not have been prouder of him.
During the episode, Joe Budden also talked about his conversation with the rapper in 2017. He said that it was not one of his proudest moments as the two engaged in a heated conversation back then. According to the Pump It Up singer,
“Feelings are fickle. What that means is, they come and they go. Nobody is one thing forever. You would be lying to tell me that as a young man in this industry you are happy 24-7. That is a lie. That is bull****. And I refuse to have somebody tell me bull****. I want to have an honest conversation.”
Starting in 2015, Joe Budden has been creating podcasts for almost ten years. In one of the videos released in April this year, Budden claimed that he has made about four million dollars since he started his podcast.
Earlier this year, Lil Yachty announced that he would take some time off the internet after the controversy he created about a song leak with Drake. While announcing on his Instagram, he said that he wouldn’t be talking about anything any time soon. They had leaked a collaborative track on a live stream back in July.
