American record producer, Digital Nas, took to social media today to upload multiple screenshots of an alleged conversation with Ye, the artist formerly known as Kanye West, where the Vultures rapper seemingly confirms working on new music.
The conversation supposedly finds Kanye and Nas talking about a track titled bLCK hedi, with both artists discussing the results of the record's new mix. When suggested that Ye should drop the single independently, the rapper responded by stating:
"I need to set it up where it's not my responsibility though. I'm going into my full Ye art studio mode"
Reposts of the alleged screenshots went viral and were shared across social media platforms. This resulted in several Kanye West fans engaging in discussions online, surrounding the potential "new music" Ye is currently working on.
Many praised the artist for finally returning with a "solo album," with fans drawing comparisons to unreleased records like PREACHER MAN and other acclaimed projects from Ye's discography.
"The last time I saw Kanye do this, he dropped mbdtf. Thank God I was presented to his music" - Said a fan.
"THE GOAT IS COMING BACK" - Said another.
"We not gonna talk abt how he said they got a fire unreleased single ready for release" - Another chimed in.
"His solo album is gonna be fire. Kanye hasn't really missed on solo albums" - A fan added.
"NEXT YE SOLO BOUT TO HIT" - Another stated.
"If we get a full album of quality songs like preacher man that bring back the gospel aesthetic I’m here for it but sadly I don’t see that happening" - An individual cited.
"Just make sure to leave a little room for some *non-controversial* art! Can’t wait to see what masterpieces come out of this studio mode!" - A fan mentioned.
Critics were seen recounting recent moments from Ye and Ty's Vultures 2 album rollout, where the project was delivered to streaming platforms "unfinished". Post the release of Vultures 2, Ye would alter several records on the tracklist, before re-uploading the re-mastered project on DSPs.
"Is the mixed and mastered in the room with us?' - A critic stated.
"All this hype just get to get an album that's 25% finished." - Said another.
One fan was even seen wishing that West "locks in" on his new project, citing their hope for the "real Kanye" finally returning with a new LP, given the news of a speculated solo album.
Kanye West uploads live remix for unreleased song 'PREACHER MAN'
On Sept. 25, Kanye West took to Instagram to upload a small preview of his unreleased track loosely titled PREACHER MAN, which was also live performed at the rapper's recent concert in Haikou, China.
The previewed track was extremely reminiscent of Ye's earlier work, where the producer would creatively use "soul sample chops" when producing a record. Fans across the internet were surprised by the video and highlighted their appreciation for West going back to his "old ways" of sample-heavy soul music.
Other notable artists who commented on his post, sharing their support for Kanye West, include frequent collaborators like Travis Scott, Ty Dolla $ign, Steve Lacy, and Channel Tres.
As per a report from HypeBeast, the last time Kanye West mentioned he was "locked in" was in 2010, when the rapper was dealing with the brunt of controversies stemming from him speaking out against Taylor Swift's win for "Best Music Video" at the 2009 MTV VMAs.
Kanye West would then go on to create and release what is now considered one of the best hip-hop albums of all time, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, on November 22, 2010.
Not long after West uploaded a live sample cut for his unreleased track, PREACHER MAN, Digital Nas would take to Instagram to share screenshots of his conversation with Ye, which allegedly hinted at a solo album being in the works.
As per the screenshots posted to Digital Nas' Instagram stories, the alleged unreleased track titled bLCK hedi was mixed by IRKO, an Italian audio engineer currently based out of Los Angeles.
"IRKO mixed this. I'm having chills rn listening. Finna send to Barti... We gotta drop bLCK hedi asappp im tellin u bro run that single thru the label system it's outta here !!!!!! It's mixed and mastered." - Digital Nas' texts read.
Additional screenshots uploaded to Nas' story seemingly find the record producer sending bLCK hedi across to various DJs and industry connects to preview the new song.
The message also explicitly requests for the song to not be leaked and only be previewed at live events, helping build anticipation for the track's "upcoming" release.
"Don't leak only play at shows. We outta here. It's dropping soon but wanted all the DJ's to have first" - Digital Nas' text read.
