DJ Akademiks recently previewed a new track on his livestream from Doodie Lo, a rapper from Lil Durk's Only The Family (OTF) collective. The internet personality said he was nervous about previewing the song as he didn't know what it was about. This came after Lil Durk was arrested on "murder-for-hire" charges, as the alleged mastermind behind the 2022 shootout involving Quando Rondo.

On October 27, 2024, Akademiks previewed Doodie Lo's song My Brother's Keeper, adding that the track would be released the following day. He also said:

"I got the song, I'm just a little bit nervous to play it because I don't know what it's gonna say. This is the first time. OTF's been f**king silent."

On October 24, Lil Durk was arrested in Florida for allegedly planning a hit on Quando Rondo in 2022. Rondo and his cousin Lul Pab were in a car in an LA neighborhood when they were accosted by gunmen, who fired at them. Rondo survived but his cousin was killed in the shootout. According to Billboard, the complaint against Lil Durk, or Durk Banks, said:

“Banks [Lil Durk] put a monetary bounty out for an individual with whom Banks was feuding named T.B [Rondo]. Banks ordered T.B.’s murder and that the hitmen used Banks and OTF-related finances to carry out the murder.”

Authorities further alleged the shootout was a retaliation for Rondo's alleged involvement in Durk's associate King Von's death in 2020. The 26-year-old Chicago-based rapper was fatally shot in Atlanta during an altercation between his and Rondo's gangs.

Lul Tim, Rondo's associate, was apprehended for Von's murder. However, the charges were dropped in 2023 after he was found to have acted in self-defense, according to Georgia's laws.

DJ Akademiks theorized about Lil Durk's charges on livestream

Internet personality DJ Akademiks has been invested in Lil Durk's charges ever since the rapper was arrested last week. The rap commentator was on livestream when he heard about Durk's arrest and was seemingly distraught with the information. He paced his room and fell to the floor upon hearing the news.

Further, in another recent livestream, Akademiks theorized what other possible charges could be leveled on Lil Durk. He also talked about authorities uncovering other possible murder attempts on Quando Rondo, saying:

"There's a thought of mine that says, 'When the feds unseal this indictment, they're gonna have every attempt on Quando Rondo's life. There was supposedly like three or four before. They might have FBG Cash, they might have other situations. They might bring back that Atlanta joint back that he was co-defendants with Von.'"

Akademiks also alleged that authorities arrested Durk because they knew he was planning on fleeing the country. According to WGN-TV, the rapper was detained at a Miami airport and had allegedly booked three international flights to leave the US.

During the livestream, Akademiks claimed the authorities were creating a "grand jury indictment" against Durk that may involve racketeering and other attempted murders, in addition to Rondo's attempted murder.

In other news, five other OTF members were arrested in Chicago before Lil Durk's arrest, in connection to Quando Rondo's attempted murder. According to The Chicago Tribune, the five affiliates were allegedly offered "lucrative music opportunities" if they managed to kill Rondo.

They also used OTF's company cards to book tickets and transport to facilitate the alleged murder attempt.
