British rapper Stormzy and TV show host Maya Jama confirmed their split in a statement they posted on their respective Instagram stories on July 17, 2024. They mentioned that while they are parting ways, they "think the absolute world of each other" and are grateful for the time they spent together.
"We've been laughing whilst drafting this because we never, ever, in a million years thought we'd be the couple announcing a breakup, But for the sake of clarity and, more importantly, to allow us the space and grace that's needed for us both to be able to navigate this next bit of our lives with peace, we thought it might be best to," the former couple mentioned.

Netizens soon took to social media to react to the announcement and were shocked by the same. While some mentioned that the news "ruined" their morning, others added that they were "not okay."
"Guys have parents that have been together for 30 years but don’t believe in love cause of maya jama and stormzy," added one individual.
"You mean my ship really broke up. maya and stormzy please," an internet user wrote.
"Maya Jama and Stormzy breaking up ruined my morning," a netizen added.

Some netizens also shed light on the fact that Stormzy and Jama had broken up and gotten back together before their 2024 split.

Maya Jama and Stormzy broke up in 2019 and got back together last year
The Love Island host and the rapper met in 2014 and "fell madly in love," as per the recently released statement. They then split in 2019 and spent five years "maneuvring life apart" before they got back together in August 2023.
In 2020, Jama appeared on Shopping With Keith Lemon, and during the interview, she shed light on the duo's "normal relationship," and said:
"We just had a normal relationship. We met when we were like 20 before anyone cared about us."
Over the years, the rapper reportedly dedicated a number of songs to Maya, including Birthday Girl and Big For Your Boots.
In the latest joint statement posted by the former couple, they explained how they fell in love at the beginning of their careers and grew together. They mentioned that they would remain friends and said:
"We still think the absolute world of each other, we still care and respect each other, we are still grateful for the time we've had together, and we are still friends and will always be friends."
When Maya and the rapper were separated, the Love Island host got engaged to Ben Simmons in 2021, and the duo parted ways a few months later in August 2022.
