In a recently posted TikTok video, Jewel extended her support to Chappell Roan as the singer and songwriter expressed how she has been affected due to the behavior of some of her fans. Jewel, in her TikTok video posted on September 2, 2024, talked about having her share of similar experiences with such fans and claimed that she is “proud” of Chappell Roan.

Jewel said:

“I am weighing in on Chappell Roan, the drama of it all. I saw that she had to turn off her comments because of her recent post just saying being stalked and having people grab you in public isn’t OK as a celebrity. I learned with time that I could talk to my fans and say ‘you can’t come within six feet of me.’”

She continued:

“I’m proud of what you’re doing. And everybody, I hope you all know that everybody is worthy of compassion. Even if you’re rich. Even if you’re famous.”

Jewel’s statement supporting Chappell Roan came just after she uploaded a video on TikTok last month, talking about the “weird” and “creepy” behavior of a few of her fans. She spoke about “predatory behavior” and stated how a few people call themselves “superfans” and act a certain way with celebrities.

Chappell Roan, aka Kayleigh Rose Amstutz, is best known for her songs Good Hurt, School Nights, Love Me Anyway, Naked in Manhattan, Casual, Red Wine Supernova, Hot to Go, and even Good Luck Babe, which was released recently in April this year.

“If you saw a random woman on the street, would you yell at her from the car window?”: Chappell Roan’s statement explored as Jewel comes out in support

A lot of comments came pouring in as Chappell Roan uploaded a video last month criticizing a certain set of fans for misbehaving with her, as she claimed that many “harass” her. Calling out their “predatory behavior,” Chappell said in her video:

“If you saw a random woman on the street, would you yell at her from the car window? Would you harass her in public? Would you go up to a random lady and say, ‘Can I get a photo with you?’ And she’s like, ‘No, what the f*ck?’ And then you get mad at this random lady?”

She also stated:

“Please stop touching me. Please stop being weird to my family and friends. Please stop assuming things about me.”

On the other hand, Jewel is not the only one to come out in support of Roan, as Paramore’s Hayley Williams also shared Roan’s post on Instagram, and wrote:

“This happens to every woman I know from this business, myself included. Social media has made this worse. I’m really thankful Chappell is willing to address it in a real way, in real time. It’s brave and unfortunately necessary.”

After Roan shared the video, not only did many celebrities comment and share her post saying that her words resonated with them, but it also began a debate about how many fans should understand that there are boundaries, even if they spot a stranger walking on the road.
