"I might be arrested in court" — Tyrese Gibson accuses his ex-wife’s lawyers of colluding against him in ongoing child support dispute

Tyrese Gibson has publicly declared that he might face arrest soon due to an escalating legal battle with his ex-wife, Samantha Lee Gibson, over child support payments. On September 8, 2024, Gibson shared this news with his Instagram followers in a now-deleted post.

"At 9 am in the morning in Atlanta I might be arrested in court...... Samantha's lawyer Adam Gleklen and William Alexander who are besties with the judge Kevin M Farmer," Gibson wrote.

The statement came after Gibson's wife, Samantha Lee, had requested an increase in child support payments for their daughter Soraya Lee Gibson, whom they welcomed in 2018.

Over the weekend, Tyrese Gibson accused his ex-wife’s legal team of colluding against him to exaggerate his financial obligations over child support in a since-deleted Instagram post.

In his detailed post, Gibson expressed his certainty that Samantha’s legal team intends to make an example out of him. He went on to emphasize his achievements, stating that he has worked tirelessly to reach his current level of success and feels compelled to remind them of the dedication and effort that have defined his career.

"So tomorrow morning I'm [sure] he's gonna wanna make an example out of me... 'I've worked my a*s off since I was 14 years old to get here," Gibson wrote.

Tyrese Gibson also criticized the lawyers by name, suggesting they are well-known. He further expressed frustration over being demanded to attend court, which caused Gibson to cancel his promotional activities for his new movie 1992 and album Beautiful Pain.

"I come to court and cancel my press and media for my 1992 movie and my new Beautiful Pain album interviews and demanded that I come to court," Gibson added.

In a separate 15-minute Instagram video, Gibson expressed confusion over the actions of Samantha's legal team.

"Why does Samantha's lawyers just request all of my bank statements? Why are they sending screenshots of my IMDB page?” Gibson questioned.

Gibson also alleged gender bias within the legal system and expressed his frustration. The singer and actor suggested that he has maintained a positive outward demeanor despite legal troubles.

"I've been laughing, smiling, having fun doing my interviews. My vibrations and my energy has been up and I've been over here silently and quietly in a certain capacity fighting these attacks," he said.

Tyrese Gibson married Samantha Lee in 2017, and the duo announced their divorce in 2020. In October 2023, during a Hardly Initiated podcast, Lee admitted that her emotional state led to the end of their marriage.

Following their divorce, Lee requested in August 2024 that the court increase the child support payments from $20,000 to $40,000 per month, as per Rolling Out.

According to Rolling Out, Samantha Lee has requested access to Tyrese Gibson's tax returns and legal documents to assess his income accurately. This request was made in support of her claim for an increase in child support payments.

There has been no significant progress in the child support case thus far, and Samantha's legal team has yet to respond to Gibson's claims.
