Troye Sivan opened his Something To Give Each Other tour in Lisbon, Portugal, on May 29, 2024, to promote his 2023 album of the same name, which was released on October 13, 2023. The Australian pop star performed his hit songs, including the LGBTQ-theme Rush, during which he passionately kissed one of his backup dancers on stage.
The clip of the kiss, which rapidly circulated on social media, was met with varied reactions, with one fan tweeting:
Several fans expressed their jealousy at the backup dancer getting the chance to share a kiss with Troye Sivan.
"I need to start dancing," one person said.
"oh to be that dancer," added another.
"I wish that was me kissing Troye," tweeted someone.
"Idk if i wish i was the dancer or troye," said another.
One person compared him to rapper Lil Nas X, who kissed his backup dancer during the 2021 BET Awards while performing Montero (Call Me By Your Name).
"Vanilla Plain a** twink live onstage, tbh lil Nas x was waaay better. This person was better with his previous music, this is giving meh. And where’s the body inclusivity he promised? Hahahah," tweeted someone.
Troye Sivan has an 18-song setlist for the Something To Give Each Other tour
Troye Sivan's exclusive European and UK tour for Something To Give Each Other saw the singer perform his hits in a show split into five acts and an encore.
According to UpRoxx, Troye Sivan also live-debuted eight songs for the first time, including Honey, Silly, In My Room and Got Me Started from Something To Give Each Other and Supernatural, his collaborative track with Ariana Grande from her Eternal Sunshine (Slightly Deluxe) album.
Troye Sivan, who kicked off his tour in Lisbon, will travel through Europe and the UK, performing in Sweden, Germany, Switzerland, Manchester, Dublin, and London before wrapping up the tour in Birmingham on June 28, 2024.
Troye Sivan will then join Charlie XCX as they co-headline their Sweat tour through North America, which will kick off at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan, on September 14, 2024.
The pair will perform in various iconic locations, including Madison Square Garden, Wells Fargo Centre, State Farm Areba, and Kia Forum. The finale will be at the Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle on October 23, 2024.
Something To Give Each Other is Troye Sivan's third studio album, following Blue Neighbourhood in 2015 and Bloom in 2018. In a 2023 interview with Billboard, Sivan said the 10-track album came into existence due to his strive for "something warm."
When asked about a tour for his new album at that time, he responded:
“I’m intimidated because … when this tour happens, I want it to be the tour of my life. I really do. And I want to give the big pop show that I think this album is asking for, and these visuals [his music videos] are asking for. And so it’s a big job. … So, I’m gonna take a second and regroup and then figure it out. For some reason, I really really really feel the pressure, I really do.”
Something To Give Each Other debuted at No. 20 on the US Billboard 200 when it was released in October 2023.
