A 31-year-old man named Rymir Satterthwaite has been trying to pursue Jay-Z for over ten years now to take a paternity test. Rymir told The Daily Mail that before she died in 2019, his mother, Wanda Satterthwaite, shared with him that she became pregnant by Jay-Z when she was just 16 years old.
In a recent interview with The Daily Mail, Rymir made a plea addressing the rapper and requesting him to take the test. He further told the outlet in a conversation that was published on December 17, 2024, that he was not after the rapper's wealth or fame. Adding that he just wanted to know the truth, Rymir Satterthwaite said:
"I really want to resolve this. I want to resolve this and get this matter done. I really do. I don’t want any money. I just want he truth."
During the conversation, he was also asked what he would like to tell the rapper if they ever met. To this, the 31-year-old man said:
"Honestly, I don’t got nothing against you. I just feel like we could get this resolved. I was never chasing you."
Rymir continued:
"I was never chasing you for fame. I just really want to resolve this. I just want to resolve this and get this matter done. This could all be done with one simple test."
Before dying, his mother, Wanda, also signed an affidavit in 2015 claiming that she had a fling with Jay-Z for a while in 1992, as per Daily Mail. In the document that was given to the outlet, Wanda apparently added that they had used protection. But this broke, and she gave birth to Rymir in July 1993.
As reported by The Economic Times on December 11, 2024, the legal battle over Rymir Satterthwaite's paternity started in 2010. The outlet added that Jay-Z's team had always found ways to delay the process, which now has stretched to more than a decade.
Rymir Satterthwaite's mum, Wanda, wanted two men, including Jay-Z, to take the paternity test
As per The Daily Mail, Wanda was dating her high school lover Robert Graves in an on-and-off manner at the time when her fling with Hov happened. In 2010, she went to the Pennsylvania court requesting an order to make both men take a paternity test to determine the identity of Rymir Satterthwaite's biological father.
Graves reportedly took the test, and it was proved that he wasn't the father. Hov, however, has never agreed to take the test. In the signed documents, Wanda claimed that she met the rapper through a mutual friend, as per a May 2023 report by the Daily Mail. She also mentioned that they went to Jay-Z's aunt's apartment in Brooklyn, where they spent the night together.
Rymir, Wanda, and his legal guardian, Dr. Lillie Coley, have reportedly been the plaintiffs in the cases, as per Daily Mail. The charges against Hov were renewed after Rymir filed a suit on November 25, 2024. It claimed that during a period from 2012 to 2023, their "rights were violated through fraudulent court actions, which included sealed records, wrongful sanctions, and obstruction of their legal proceedings."
Despite the legal troubles, Rymir Satterthwaite had maintained the stance that he would never hate Hov and, in fact, respected him. He further stated that he would keep trying until he uncovered the truth about his biological father.
