Percy "Master P" Miller opened up about how he has managed to avoid the controversies unlike some of his peers, including Sean Diddy Combs. On September 26, 2024, Master P appeared on WGNO TV News for an exclusive interview.
He discussed how he successfully built a thriving business while avoiding controversies. The host emphasized Diddy's high-profile arrest case compared to Master P, who mentioned the importance of maintaining a focused and disciplined approach.
However, he shared that he consciously chose to "stick" to himself by keeping a close-knit circle and limiting outside engagements.
"A lot of people want to meet people and hang out with people. But I realized that people really just want to be with you because now you're successful, so I stick to myself," Master P said.
The statement came after Sean Combs was arrested on September 16, 2024, at the Park Hyatt Hotel on West 57th Street under accusations of s*x trafficking and racketeering.
Master P reveals his secret to avoiding scandals amid Diddy's legal woes
On Thursday, Master P appeared at WGNO TV News and was asked how he has managed to remain free from controversy, unlike fellow mogul Diddy. In response, Master P shared that his approach has always been rooted in authenticity and keeping his circle tight.
No Limit Records' founder further stated, referring to Combs, that many people may not understand that when they become successful, others often start wanting to be associated with them. It's not necessarily because of genuine friendship but because of their newfound status or wealth.
"Because I realized I had the same friends I had when I started out. I think a lot of these people don't realize that a lot of these people want to be your friend once you make it," Master P said.
The record producer further indicated that he believes in the foundation of the family and its unity only. As in hard times, you can feel supported and connected.
"My thing is, this is about a family. We stronger together, whatever we have we gone share it with each other," he added.
Lastly, Master P emphasized that the media and the public often focus on negative narratives, alluding to Diddy's legal challenges. He added that the positive contributions and efforts made by individuals in the industry are frequently overlooked or underrepresented, as attention tends to gravitate towards controversy.
"People show all the negative stuff, but look at all the positive things we've been doing all these years that don't go viral," Master P stated.
Diddy was arrested on federal s*x trafficking and racketeering charges. A 14-page lengthy indictment was filed against the rapper, which alleges numerous trafficking crimes, including Freak Offs, which referred to the recorded s*xual performances and drug-fueled orgies allegedly provided by Diddy.
The new development came into the case when Ariel Mitchell-Kidd, attorney for a new Combs accuser, told NewsNation's Banfield on September 27, 2024, that she was reached out by someone about the "sale of one of the Diddy tapes."
Mitchell-Kidd did not disclose the identity of the individual involved or the specific content of the videotape. However, she indicated that the video was adult in nature and featured Diddy alongside another individual of even higher profile.
"I can tell the video was p**nographic in nature... This was in his Atlanta home, and it does seem the person isn't looking into the video. To me, it doesn't seem like that person knows they're being videotaped," Mitchell-Kidd revealed.
Combs currently remains behind bars, as a New York City court denied his bail. As per TMZ's latest documentary on Tubi, his attorney, Marc Agnifilo, said that Combs is focusing on his defense while being incarcerated.
