"I don't think Kendrick set out to unite Crips and Bloods" - Wack 100 explains why Kendrick Lamar didn't actually unite LA gangs at his Pop-Up

Wack 100 has recently addressed the reasons why Kendrick Lamar did not unite the Los Angeles-based gangs, including Crips and Bloods, in his latest concert, The Pop Out – Ken & Friends. The music manager appeared for an interview on VladTV on July 16, 2024, and said:

"I don't think Kendrick Lamar set out to unite the Crips and Bloods. That wasn't his angle. I think Kendrick set out to pull up those up-and-coming, underground artists of greater L.A."

Wack 100 added that Lamar's main intention was to unite everyone on the show:

"If you are one of those that's been hustling and been getting it, and you just so happen to be a Crip, or Blood, or whatever you may be, it's 'Come on. We welcoming all with open arms."

Kendrick Lamar's concert was held on June 19, 2024, in Los Angeles and was attended by several well-known faces from the world of hip-hop. While the show was approaching its closure, the rapper spoke to the audience, saying that things have been different since the deaths of Nipsey Hussle and Kobe Bryant. He continued:

"We done lost a lot of homies to this music sh*t, to this street sh*t. For all of us to be togeter on stage, that sh*t is special. Everybody on this stage got fallen soldiers."

Kendrick Lamar's diss track returns to its original position in the Billboard Hot 100

The Quincy star grabbed a lot of attention on social media and other platforms this year due to his dispute with Drake. The duo released several diss tracks aiming at each other's lives and a few of them also managed to become successful in a brief period.

One of those tracks was Not Like Us by Kendrick Lamar, which came out on May 4, 2024. Notably, the single managed to receive positive feedback and grabbed the top spot on the US Billboard Hot 100 alongside a few other charts.

The song continued to maintain its position on the chart, especially after the release of the music video on July 4. It additionally broke records in streaming platforms, with 54 million streams, and marked the first song of Lamar which remained on the US Billboard Hot 100 for multiple weeks.

The music video of the track begins with Kendrick Lamar rapping a few verses. This is followed by cameo appearances from artists such as Tommy the Clown. Lamar is spotted dancing with his partner Whitney Alford alongside their two kids, and additionally targets Drake by breaking an owl pinata and staring at a caged owl.

The 37-year-old's latest concert, The Pop Out – Ken & Friends, also contributed to bringing more numbers in terms of streaming for the songs of ScHoolboy Q, Jay Rock, and Ab-Soul, who also performed on stage.

While ScHoolboy's singles witnessed an increase of 31% in online streaming, the number was 45% for Rock and 44% for Ab-Soul.

Lamar's voice will also be heard in the upcoming animated film, Piece by Piece, which arrives on the big screen on October 11, 2024. The project has been helmed by Morgan Neville.
