The 'Hawk Tuah' girl became one of the biggest deals on social media earlier this month. The girl in question, identified as Hailey Welch, had been going viral after she featured in a man-on-the-street interview with Tim & Dee TV creators. She was asked,
"What’s one move in bed that makes a man go crazy every time?"
Welch hilariously replied with a slighty NSFW answer:
"You gotta give ’em that ‘hawk tuah’ and spit on that thang."
Viewers went crazy after the response, making the video quite viral in a short time, and she came to be known as the Hawk Tuah Girl. On Friday, Sum 41 drummer Steve Jocz took to YouTube to share his thoughts on the viral clip. He said,
"I, for one, am 100 percent on team 'hawk tuah' I think it might be my new religion."
He further continued by stating that fans had made him wonder if Sum 41 predicted Hawk Tuah 22 years ago after citing similarities between The Hell Song from their 2002 album Does This Look Infected? and System of a Down's 2001 track Chop Suey.

Several speculations have been made about the girl in the clip. Tippah County Tribune initially claimed in a Facebook post that Hailey was a pre-school teacher and she lost her job after students saw her video and began spitting at each other. While there had been no confirmation about her real job, meme fan pages claimed that she was actually a bartender. No further claims about her losing a job has been reported as of now.
The clip went so viral that the original content creators, who did the interview, launched an official merchandise line based on it. This includes t-shirts and caps. It wasn't clear, however, if Hailey was getting any profit out of it. There was one place, though, where she was very likely to earn money from her viral interview.
Jason Poteete, the owner of the apparel brand Fathead Threads, had known Hailey for quite some time. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Jason said that the merchandise was selling off at good rates and that they were making good profits. He further added that they had already sold more than 2,000 hats, and the hats alone had possibly brought over $60,000 to the company.
Recently, podcaster Joe Rogan also reacted to the fame that the viral girl had been witnessing lately. Rogan expressed his shock at how rapidly the video became viral. He additionally explained that these could be clips that should go viral because they were so funny.
