In an exclusive Rolling Stone interview published on Tuesday, August 27, Lil Rod discussed his lawsuit against Diddy openly for the first time. Speaking about the impact of suing Diddy on his life, he remarked,
"I got threats. I’ve never had so much hitting me at once. Diddy has a lot of people on his payroll in a lot of different positions. He’s very connected. It’s made me nervous traveling. Going to hotels, I ask if there’s any way to remove my name.”
He continued,
“[The last time] I landed in L.A., I knew he had connections there. I got off the plane worried. I masked my face and changed my outfits, trying to disguise myself. For sure I was uncomfortable, paranoid, afraid. But I told myself, you can’t keep living like this. I’ve got three therapists. Everybody saw the video of Cassie. This is who I’m dealing with."
Lil Rod opened up about Diddy and his lawsuit against the rapper
In a recent interview, Rodney "Lil Rod" Jones, the artist who accused Diddy of s*xual assault, harassment, and unpaid labor back in February 2024, has now opened up about his experience of doing that.
Lil Rod Jones talked about his experience dealing with the music mogul in the Rolling Stones, calling him a "monster" and voicing concerns for his safety.
“He’s a monster. He’ll do whatever is necessary to get exactly what he wants. He doesn’t take no for an answer. He [told me] himself, ‘I’ll smack my mama.’ Anybody who can say that even jokingly is a monster. He’s nothing to be played with. For a person whose brand is Love Records, and changed their name to Love and named their kid Love, he doesn’t show love. He’s just marketing.”
Describing the alleged abuse, he stated that the first time he felt uneasy was at Thanksgiving. Diddy pushed him to take drugs after inviting him over for Thanksgiving dinner at his house that day.
He continued by discussing the impact of the case on his professional life, he remarked,
“It’s been very, very tough. Because of this lawsuit, most people don’t want to come near working with me for whatever reasons…. I reached out to try to get a deal for my album, and people don’t want to get involved.”
He continued by saying that he could not return to his previous career as a musician because he was required to carry security during the performances as he was afraid Combs might do something to him, but that was taxing as well, as most musicians don't make enough to hire bodyguards.
Then he told the outlet why he was opening out now.
"My name is all over the [Love Album] credits, so I had to have done some producing. It got a Grammy nomination. And I’m sitting here doing nothing, unable to work. This is not right."
Here, he referred to the album The Love Album: Off the Grid, in which Diddy hired him to work in 2022.
Then he asserted that the music business idolized Sean and his wealthy status. They are living vicariously with his help, therefore they didn't want to see him fail. However, according to Lil Rod, he was a cunning, dishonest entrepreneur and a thief. Rod further stated that Diddy had no soul and had been stealing publications for years.
This interview took place six months after Lil Rod sued the rapper. In the case, Jones claimed that from September 2022 to November 2023, Combs drugged, intimidated, and harassed him s*xually. Jones then demanded damages of $30 million.
Following this, Combs also filed a motion to dismiss Lil Rod’s lawsuit on Monday, August 26 in the United States District Court in NY.
