Memphis Bleek dismisses Dame Dash's ghostwriting allegations
On Friday, December 27, 2024, a few netizens on X mentioned Memphis Bleek and sought clarification regarding claims made by Dame Dash. One netizen specifically asked about the circulating rumors that JAY-Z ghostwrote for Bleek.
"Ayo @memphisbleek, what's up with ya mans saying jay wrote for you bro 😂😂😂😂 he looking bad he need a half of half of something 😂," a netizen asked.
Bleek replied, suggesting that Dash was "wilding" with his statements.
"He wilding right now bro 😂🤣," Bleek replied to a question on X.
On December 28, 2024, Bleek further addressed the claims in a separate tweet, directly refuting them. He pointed out that people previously labelled him "whack," implying that if JAY-Z had written for him, it would have affected the latter's credibility as well.
"And people said I was whack 🤔 so if Jay wrote for me he whack to 😂🤣😂🤣," Bleek wrote.
In another X post the same day, Bleek claimed that Dame Dash's comments were strategically timed to generate attention for a forthcoming podcast. He emphasized this point, stating humorously.
"These type of conversations Dame sparking is the reason #RocSolidPod gotta Drop‼️ 2025 we talking bout all this sh*t 😂🤣😂," Bleek added.
Bleek shared his stance after a December 21, 2024, interview on The Art of Dialogue, during which Dame Dash made remarks about the dynamics within Roc-A-Fella Records. Dash claimed that Bleek could not take over the label and further alleged that JAY-Z ghostwrote for Bleek:
"I don't think Bleek wanted to take over [Roc-A-Fella]. I don't think he had the ability to. Jay was writing a lot of his rhymes. So if Jay retired, that meant he was out of business as well."
Dash also suggested that Bleek's loyalty to JAY-Z stemmed from the alleged ghostwriting, claiming he believed this information was widely known.
"I can understand Bleek's loyalty to Jay because he had Jay as a ghostwriter. I probably shouldn't have said that. I didn't think it was a secret. I thought everybody knew," Dash added.
As of now, JAY-Z has not responded to Dame Dash's claims or commented on Memphis Bleek's remarks.
