Rapper Icewear Vezzo took to Instagram on June 16 to respond to the backlash over his photo with Donald Trump. Vezzo and YouTuber Peezy posted the photograph with the former president on their Instagram accounts on Saturday, June 15.

HipHopDX reported that the rappers faced backlash from social media users once the photos went public. Peezy and Icewear Vezzo posed for pictures with Donald Trump during his visit to Detroit, Michigan, over the weekend. On June 16, Vezzo finally took to Instagram to address the criticism in a video.

He said,

“Like, why can't we respectfully agree to disagree? You know what built great companies and great civilizations is they all went and got a team of people who think differently from them. If they went and got people that thought the exact same thing as them, then there wasn't no need of hiring no people.”

The HipHopDX report included comments from netizens, one of which includes a user saying that Trump is just using the "rappers as pawns" and that they are faking it. Others think that rappers should stay away from politics.

Icewear Vezzo thinks that everyone should have their own opinion and ideas

Rapper Icewear Vezzo and YouTuber Peezy gave Donald Trump their endorsements while Trump was in Detroit over the weekend. On Saturday, June 15, Peezy and Icewear Vezzo posted a photo of themselves with Trump on their individual Instagram profiles. However, because of this, they came under fire from social media users.

In the caption of the photo, Peezy wrote,

“I Told @realdonaldtrump If We Can Bring The ACT BACK We Can MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN.”

On the other hand, uploading the same picture on his Instagram account, Icewear Vezzo wrote,

“Told Donald I Made the 6 great again @realdonaldtrump … "But naw in all seriousness everyone not gonna agree with this picture but we don’t all have to agree on everything I just know not many of us will ever have the chance to really speak up for us and address how we may really feel so I stepped out on faith I didn’t meet him as a rapper I met him as a man and a father who understands the only way to attempt change things is to address things.”

However, once these photos went viral, netizens started criticizing them. Rap Up reported that shortly after this, addressing the criticism, Peezy commented,

“Can anybody explain why they are so mad? I thought we was free to vote for whoever we want?? What’s the problem? Does everybody have to be a follower? Do you all hate free thinkers?”

Again, on Sunday, June 16, he took to the social networking platform and posted a video in which he asked his fans, politely, why no one could just agree to disagree.

Icewear Vezzo went on to say that brilliant businesses and great civilizations would only be constructed by a group of individuals with diverse points of view. Individuals who shared the same opinions would not be able to contribute anything to the cause.

The rapper further said,

“You're not coming with anything because everything you bring and I already I'm already aware of. But it only worked because they respectfully disagree. They challenged each other ideas and thoughts. Y'all have to stop expecting to agree with absolutely everything somebody do. And if somebody don't agree with everything you do, that's completely fine.”

He continued,

“Imagine if we drove the same car, had the same kids, had the same wife, wore the same clothes. We all wore the same color. We all lived in the same house. That's exactly how the world will look if we expected to agree with everything somebody did and said.”

As of now, Peezy hasn’t said anything about the criticism or addressed it. On the other hand, Donald Trump is trying to gather support among the black communities; hence, he visited Detroit.
