NBC Chicago obtained new documents according to which Lil Durk was about to leave for Italy, around the time when he got arrested. The rapper reportedly was detained by the feds on Friday, October 25, 2024, hours after five of his OTF associates were taken into custody.
The FBI revealed that they got alerts from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, that Durk was a passenger on two international flights on Thursday, October 24. One flight was from Miami to Dubai and the other from Fort Lauderdale to Switzerland. Lil Durk, however, didn't board either of the flights.
Around the time the tickets were booked, iCloud records of Lil Durk telling one of his OTF associates to not book any under his name, had also reportedly been obtained.
The rapper later booked a seat on a private flight from Miami to Italy, before getting detained in South Florida. According to the new details, the rapper was arrested "in the vicinity of the departing airport" just an hour before the scheduled take-off. The chain of events happened a few days after Durk performed at United Center on Sunday, October 20.
Netizens further took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their reactions on the latest details about the case.
A user wrote:
"Yeah he's done for, welp he had a good celebrity run 🤷🏿♂️."
"How they get that icloud though🤔🤔I hope apple got an update soon," added a tweet.
"I mean he can be like I was saying don’t involve me," said another one.
A complaint accused Lil Durk of putting a bounty on a rival rapper back in 2022
NBC Chicago further obtained a criminal complaint against Lil Durk, which accused him of putting "a monetary bounty out" for the hit on a rival rapper referred to as TB in court documents. While the rival rapper wasn't harmed in the shooting, his cousin was killed. The complaint further said:
"Evidence shows that Banks ordered T.B.'s murder and that the hitmen used Banks and OTF-related finances to carry out the murder."
Akil Davis, the Assistant Director in Charge of the FBI Los Angeles Field Office, said in a statement:
"No excuse can justify this violent act and let me be clear: While you’re going about your life, thinking you ‘got away with it,’ the FBI is piecing together the facts that will serve as your undoing."
As for now, Durk is facing charges of conspiracy to commit murder-for-hire, in connection to the death of 24-year-old Saviay'a Robinson, as confirmed in an FBI affidavit. Apart from Lil Durk, five of his OTF associates- Kavon London Grant, Deandre Dontrell Wilson, Keith Jones, David Brian Lindsey, and Asa Houston, have also been taken into custody and charged.
