Houston-based attorney Tony Buzbee claims being harassed after he re-filed a lawsuit naming Jay-Z a co-defendant in a Diddy lawsuit alleging r*pe of a 13-year-old. On Sunday, December 8, 2024, the lawyer took to his Instagram to allege that he and his family were being targeted by "mysterious people."
"I won’t be bullied or intimidated. People will see through this effort to discredit me and my clients and the truth will be revealed. I also won’t allow anyone to scare my clients into silence. Sunlight is the best disinfectant and I am quite certain the sun is coming," Buzbee asserted.
For the uninitiated, on Sunday, Buzbee refiled a civil complaint, initially naming only Diddy as the defendant, to now include Jay-Z's name. Per the accuser (identified as Jane Doe), in 2000 the two men allegedly drugged and r*ped an MTV VMA girl at an after-party. The victim claimed she was just 13 at the time.
As news of Buzbee getting harassed spread, internet users were quick to express concern. One wrote:
"If this guy goes missing we'll know why."
Many criticized Jay-Z, some even claiming he was like a "mafia boss." Here are some comments seen under @Pop Base's post on X:
"Jay-Z already trying to take him out oh i fear all the rumors regarding the carters are not so far fetched," one wrote.
"jay-z rly got 99 problems and a lawyer is one," another quipped.
"jay-z acting like the mafia boss we always knew he was, why am I not surprised?" a person sarcastically added.
Others continued to express their worry for Tony Buzbee, praising him for continuing to fight.
"PROTECT OUR SOLDIER," a user commented.
"Sir you need to get protection for you and your family ASAP," one suggested.
"a very strong willed man, thank god he and his firm has the courage to do what so many probably wouldn’t, i hope the victim(s) and their legal rep remain safe," another added.
Jay-Z called Tony Buzbee a "fraud" and a "deplorable human" in light of recent lawsuit
In October 2024, Texas lawyer Tony Buzbee announced representing 120 new alleged victims who were s*xually assaulted and abused by Diddy, 25 of whom were minors. Since then, several of the alleged victims have filed lawsuits for unspecified damages.
In light of Sunday's lawsuit, Jay-Z denied the claims in a lengthy statement shared on Roc Nation's X account. He stated that the claims were a "blackmail attempt" to extort money. The rapper claimed he would "expose" Tony Buzbee as a "fraud" known to use "these types of theatrics."
Calling Buzbee a "deplorable human" who "exploits children for personal gain," the rapper added:
"I have seen your kind many times over. I'm more than prepared to deal with your type. You claim to be a marine?! Marines are known for their valor, you have neither honor nor dignity."
Just hours after Jay-Z's statement, Tony Buzbee shared a post claiming harassment. In the post, he said that he was a veteran, a weapons platoon commander, Alpha Company, First Battalion, Fourth Marines, adding that he wouldn't be "bullied or intimidated."
Tony Buzbee claimed that he was a target of a "coordinated and aggressive effort" aimed at discrediting him. Per the Houston attorney, this included harassing his family, filing "frivolous cases" against him and his firm, "defaming (him) by making "outrageous assertions to anyone who will listen," and having "mysterious people" follow him and his family.
According to Tony Buzbee, they also contacted his clients (current and past) to encourage them to sue Buzbee and contacted his colleagues and employees (current and past) asking them if Buzbee ever abused them.
Per the lawyer, these people also showed up at his employees' homes to harass them.
Tony Buzbee later took to his X to assert that his client didn't demand a penny from Jay-Z. He added that the rapper's "conduct" has only "emboldened" his client and that he was proud of her.
This is not the first time Jay-Z has been referenced in Diddy's controversy. Federal authorities arrested Combs in September on charges of s*x trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution.
According to his indictment, he allegedly ran a "criminal enterprise" that "s*xually abused" women and others for years.
This included participating in "elaborate and produced s*x performances" at his "freak off" parties for the benefit of Diddy and his guests. Since then, netizens have speculated on which celebrities have attended the parties, which included Jay-Z.
Diddy has denied all accusations levied against him. He is currently held at a detention center in Brooklyn after being repeatedly denied bail. His trial is set to begin in May 2025.
