In a recent concert, Megan Thee Stallion told her fans not to blow marijuana smoke in her direction. On Saturday, June 15, 2024, during her Hot Girl Summer show at Toyota Center in Houston, Texas, the rapper joked with concertgoers:
"I said don’t blow that weed by me. I don’t want to be high. If I get high, the show is over. I’m going to the hospital. Call the police."
As seen in footage circulating on social media showing the moment, Megan paused in between songs after a fan blew wind in her face. Overall, the audience seemed to understand and laugh, and the concert continued without further disruptions.
Megan Thee Stallion, in her song about mental health and anxiety, has stated she does not smoke weed
As news of the incident spread, several netizens criticized the 29-year-old rapper, claiming she "threaten(ed)" to stop her show if they didn't stop smoking weed. However, her fans were quick to defend Megan, with one saying:
"megan has expressed before (in her music actually) that weed doesn’t agree with her so she lightheartedly stated the show would have to be stopped if she got high because of the negative physiological effect it has on her. there was no threatening and it’s her right to suggest people at HER concert keep it away from her."
"Listen i enjoy 1 weed just as much as the next person but if you have to sneak weed into an event you need to go see that lady. It was a girl in front of me smoking at the concert last night I was so mad. Nobody wanna smell like smoke hun," added another.
The fan is referring to her song Anxiety from Traumatize, in which Megan Thee Stallion addresses her struggles with mental health. One lyric from the song goes:
"And I don't do drugs, so I never get a time when I'm at ease/ I can't even handle smokin' weed."
However, in a March 2023 appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, actor Seth Rogen revealed he smoked weed with Megan Thee Stallion at a Vanity Fair party with her brother. Stallion does not have a biological brother, and Rogen was referring to her manager, T. Farris.
Saturday's concert was the rapper's first at Toyota Center, with the Hot Girl Summer Tour being her first headlining tour. Singer GloRilla served as the opening act. As part of the Houston show, she brought local artists like Lil Keke, Slim Thug, Bun B, and Paul Wall to perform.
Megan Thee Stallion is to wrap up the North American leg of her Hot Girl Summer tour in June, heading to Europe next month. Her self-titled third studio album, MEGAN, is to drop on June 28. It includes the single HISS, which topped the Billboard Hot 100.
