Rapper Kanye West revealed he is a gamer and raved about The Last of Us 2 in a recent update. The Vultures hitmaker took to his Instagram stories on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, to share a screenshot from the game with the message:
"Last of us 2 on Survivor + mode got me spending all day on one board. By faaaaaaarrrr the best game ever made so far. This is no a sponsored post."
West was referencing the 2020 sequel to the action-adventure The Last of Us. The game is set in a post-apocalyptic world ravaged by a mutated fungus. It spurred a TV show of the same name starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey in the lead.
As the word spread, internet users were quick to react. One commented, "Imagine if Kanye West started streams."
Many agreed with the rapper, stating it was a good game.
"No lies told, best game ever in terms of gameplay," one wrote.
"Greatness Knows Greatness," a fan commented.
"Easily the best game of all time. If you ain't played part 2 better get on it," another added.
Others quipped they didn't expect to see Kanye (who now goes by Ye) gaming.
"What a way to start 2025. Didn’t see this coming lol," a user noted.
"we got ye praising TLOU 2 before gta 6," another quipped.
"Hes a Gamer?" one expressed surprise.
Kanye is currently working on his upcoming album, Bully
Playing The Last of Us 2 was not the only update Kanye shared on social media. The rapper posted pictures from his New Year's Eve celebration with his wife Bianca Censori. One of the photos includes the smiling couple posing for a mirror selfie. Censori is seen donning a black bodysuit with shimmering tights while Ye is dressed in white sweatpants and a T-shirt.
Another picture featured a mirror photo of Censori from behind, and a third showed the couple standing beside each other, with the rapper in white sweats while his wife wore only her lingerie.
The IG stories showing the couple happy and smiling put rumors of Kanye and Bianca Censori heading for a divorce to rest. In October 2024, TMZ published a report claiming the pair had separated, with West moving to Japan and Censori staying in her hometown in Australia.
Per the publication, citing music journalist Touré, Ye was staying in Tokyo working on self-producing his new album, Bully, from the confines of his hotel room. Touré claimed that despite staying in the city for a significant amount of time, the rapper hadn't purchased property.
He explained that Kanye liked the anonymity the city offered, stating:
"When he’s in Japan, people see him, but they’re very quiet. They’re very respectful. Very seldom will they even come up and ask for a picture. So he can move around Japan with no security."
On October 25, Kanye revealed the cover art for the project on his Instagram. Last week, a photo of Ye apparently recording new music in a studio began circulating online.
