The Internet has reacted to veteran rapper Flavor Flav partnering with GoFundMe and the Black Music Action Coalition to set up a fundraiser to help the victims of the catastrophic LA wildfires. According to the GoFundMe page, the donations will directly help the displaced black families who have been victims of the Eaton Fire in the Pasadena and Altadena neighborhoods of Los Angeles.

Flavor Flav's GoFundMe page has generated $44,662 as of writing, which is nearly 45% of its goal of $100,000. The recipients of the donations will be selected from a consolidated list called the 'Displaced Black Families GoFundMe Directory' compiled by organizations like WalkGood LA, AFROPUNK, and Community Aid Dena.

The 65-year-old rapper posted about the same on Instagram, imploring his 574k followers to contribute and help better the lives of the victims.

"So many of y’all have helped in the aftermath of the LA Fires,,, so many of y’all have received help. But there’s SO MANY more that REALLY need your help. It’s been inspiring to see so many people come together as one to lift each other up, and I just want to highlight one aspect of the larger LA community in dire need," wrote Flav in the caption.

Netizens have waxed lyrical about Flavor Flav for organizing the fundraiser:

"In a world of Snoops, be a Flav," a fan wrote on Instagram.

In December 2024, Flavor Flav claimed that he was asked to leave the 2024 Rockefeller Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony by NBC despite being invited to participate in the festivities. The ceremony took place on December 4, 2024, and played host to high-profile names from the industry including the Backstreet Boys, Jennifer Hudson, Little Big Town, and the like.

For the unversed, the ceremony involves a giant Christmas tree decorated with over 50,000 LED lights with a massive Swarovski star at its top. After lighting, the tree shines daily from 5 am till midnight. On Christmas Day, it shines throughout the day.

On December 4, Flavor Flav took to X to narrate his experience of trying to attend the event.

“I feel weird. I was invited to the Rockerfeller Tree Lighting tonight and I was escorted to see my boys… THE BACKSTREET BOYS… and we were backstage in their dressing room.. The security came up to me and says that NBC does not want me in this area and I need to leave," he wrote on X.

The rapper explained that a person from their social media team captured content despite asking the rapper to leave.

"What did I ever do to NBC or anyone,,?? all I ever do is try to spread joy and love,,, and I think I did that for NBC at the Olympics," he concluded.

Despite the rampant outrage on social media from fans of the rapper, NBC didn't explain why he was asked to leave in a public statement or on social media.
