Halsey said The Great Impersonator might be the last album she ever made
Reportedly, Halsey’s upcoming album is a follow-up to her previous album If I Can't Have Love, I Want Power which was released in 2021 and ranked second on Billboard 200. However, with The Great Impersonator, it seems that the singer has a cryptic take as she might unfold some of the questions about her life.
According to a Rolling Stone report from August 27, the album might show Halsey taking a walk through the decades. She said in the album’s trailer;
“I really thought this album might be the last one I ever made. When you get sick like that, you start thinking about ways it could have all been different. What if this isn't how it all went down? 18-year-old Ashley becomes Halsey in 2014. What if I debuted in the early 2000s? The '90s? The '80s? The '70s?”
The Great Impersonator's trailer also showed Halsey in different outfits from different time periods. However, there seems to be a dramatic end to the trailer as she said she spent half her life being someone else. Yet, the question that she asks is,
“Is this a person you’re proud to leave behind? Is it even you?”
Halsey released her song The End in June 2024 after she hinted at a lupus and leukemia diagnosis. In 2022, she allegedly said her health deteriorated when she got pregnant. On June 4, she shared a series of videos and photos on her Instagram account in which she was seen being surrounded with medications. She wrote in the caption that she was "lucky to be alive."
