American presenter Joe Budden recently claimed that Kendrick Lamar's latest studio album, GNX, is being played at strip clubs.
Speaking on the rapper's eponymous podcast, The Joe Budden Podcast, Budden appreciated Lamar's "original" body of work, stating that it is being played at strip clubs. He said:
"You have this body of work-- of all original music. The Luther record came on in the strip club the other day. I was in there with my son."
Once Budden's remarks went viral, fans took to X to react to his comments about Lamar's album. One X user wrote:
"Is that an achievement?"
Several netizens shared their opinions on the podcaster's comments.
"Bro going strip club with his child?," another user asked.
"I believe him I remember when they use to play Poetic Justice in the strip clubs in 2012," a fan added.
"They’d play Old MacDonald Had a Farm in the strip clubs if people continued to throw 1’s," a netizen joked.
Fans continued to have mixed reactions to Budden's comments:
"I love this album but idk about all that especially not New York strip clubs lol," a fan opined.
"Is it me or is he too old to be in strip clubs still, like where is your shame?," another netizen jibed.
"bro said i was in there with my son wym," another user commented.
Kendrick Lamar released his sixth studio album, GNX, as a surprise on November 22, 2024, through PGLang and Interscope Records.
Joe Budden claims Kendrick Lamar did not respond to Lil Wayne's call about the GNX track Wacced Out Murals
In a November 27 episode of his podcast, Joe Budden commented on the alleged issue between rapper Lil Wayne and Kendrick Lamar. For those uninformed, Lamar name-dropped Wayne in one of his songs in his latest album GNX, titled Wacced Out Murals. He rapped:
"Used to bump 'Tha Carter III,' I held my Rollie chain proud/ Irony, I think my hard work let Lil Wayne down/ Whatever, though, call me crazy, everybody questionable/ Turn me to an eskimo, I drew the line and decimals."
During the podcast, Joe Budden claimed that Wayne allegedly tried to reach out to Kendrick Lamar after being mentioned in the track. However, K Dot did not pick up the call.
"I'm hearing that somebody picked up the phone, tried to call and see what their energy was. Hearing that Kendrick didn't answer," Budden claimed.
Joe Budden added:
"If I'm calling you rapper-to-rapper and you don't answer it's like when Mark Toe f*cking flipped when they had their s*it back. Now I'm going into booths. You have until I get in that booth to hit me back."
Lamar's mention of Wayne in his track reportedly relates to the Super Bowl controversy that took place in September this year. It all began when K Dot was named as the headliner for the 2025 Super Bowl halftime show, despite the event being held in Wayne's hometown, New Orleans.
Multiple prominent names in the hip-hop community, including Nicki Minaj, expressed their discontent about Wayne not performing at the 2025 Super Bowl. In Wacced Out Murals, Kendrick Lamar supposedly alluded to this controversy.
Shortly after Lamar named Lil Wayne in his track, the latter took to X to share a message allegedly in response to K Dot. He wrote:
"Man wtf I do?! I just be chillin & dey still kome 4 my head. Let’s not take kindness for weakness. Let this giant sleep. I beg u all. No one really wants destruction, not even me but I shall destroy if disturbed. On me. Love."
In other news, Joe Budden recently commented on the ongoing legal battle between Drake and Universal Music Group (UMG). He called Drizzy a "lying, manipulative sack of s***" and alleged that the rapper "sneaks behind rap peers" and offers them money.
