Singer Ariana Grande's fans were left disappointed after her record label, Republic Records, confirmed the pop star has no tour planned for 2025. This announcement came after some eagle-eyed Grande fans noticed the singer supposedly had 15 events listed under her name on Ticketmaster on December 14.
This spun her fans into a frenzy, excited at the possibility of the Wicked actress going on a mini tour in the wake of her seventh studio album, Eternal Sunshine, which came out in March 2024.
However, Republic Records responded to a fan page on X about the Ticketmaster update, denying rumors that the singer was going on tour.
"There are no plans for a tour next year, but Ariana remains deeply appreciative of her fans and all the continued love, support and excitement," the comment on December 16 read.
The "15 shows" listed under Ariana Grande's Ticketmaster page were most likely due to a glitch. According to Uproxx, the Ticketmaster glitch was fixed to reflect that the singer had no upcoming shows in 2025 after Republic Records released the statement.
Ariana Grande's last tour was in 2019
Ariana Grande last embarked on a world tour in 2019, the Sweetener World Tour, to promote her 2018 album Sweetener and 2019 album Thank U, Next. Between March and December 2019, the singer performed in North America, Europe, and the UK.
The Sweetener World Tour was Ariana Grande's fourth concert tour. She has since released two albums, Positions (2020) and Eternal Sunshine (2024). The pop star is basking in her year of success following the release of Eternal Sunshine and Wicked and her subsequent Golden Globe nomination.
According to Billboard, the singer, who was nominated for Best Supporting Actress, celebrated her nomination on December 9 with a message on Instagram Story.
"oh my goodness oh my goodness. I am floored and honored to be recognized by members of the @goldenglobes. crying (of course) … It’s impossible to find my words, but I am simply so deeply grateful for this acknowledgement,” she wrote.
Wicked received four nominations, including Best Female Actor, Best Motion Picture, Best Cinematic, and Best Box Office Achievement.
Ariana Grande and co-star Cynthia Erivo compared contracts to ensure pay disparity
Ariana Grande recently revealed that she and her Wicked co-star Cynthia Erivo compared contracts to ensure they were "aligned" to avoid any pay disparity. During her SAG-AFTRA Foundation panel on December 14, Grande said both actresses had each other's backs.
“When I got my contract, I called [Erivo], and was like, ‘Hey let’s go through this thing. Let’s go beat by beat through this together and make sure we are aligned in what we need. If [Erivo needs] something, we need it together. I want us to have each other’s backs. Your problems become my problems and mine become yours.”
This came after netizens claimed Ariana Grande was paid $15 million for the role of Glinda while Erivo received only $1 million for Elphaba. According to Variety, these rumors, which swirled on Reddit and TikTok, were also debunked by Universal Pictures in November.
“Reports of pay disparity between Cynthia and Ariana are completely false and based on internet fodder. The women received equal pay for their work on ‘Wicked,'" a Universal Pictures spokesperson said.
However, it is unclear how much each actress received.
